Any potential momentum would be the downside, but it doesn't always work that way. Not bothered if the media lick their arse, at all. But it is possible getting further in the Champs league will distract them from the league. Thats why. Support for Arsenal would be putting it a bit strongly, I'm not even watching it.

Them being in the champs league longer means they will be stretched more in the league, not rocket science!
Err you do realise they've been in the CL all season and we are still a way behind them yeah?

I'd rather morale dented by a CL exit than yet more momentum for them. Do you not want us in the CL next season?

So long as whatever happens to them has an adverse affect on their league form I'm happy.

I literally got more staggered with each post 'hoping they do it'

            Cant fathom it, really cant.

Its weird, not to mention if the draw panned out right they could quite easily make the Final. Yeah great!! Go Arsenal!!

                Mine was the first

It was qualified with it being in expectation/hope that it had an adverse effect on their league form. If getting knocked were to ruin their league form then I'll vote for that.

I think, despite us all being Liverpool fans, some of us see things from emphatically different angles. I'm the same as you, i couldnt possibly even begin to want any english club to do well in the European Cup. Especially not in the knockout stages where, as you say, the unthinkable could only be a lucky draw away from happening.

I couldnt bare the prospect of any english side winning the european cup. People can always say "Yeah but Barca will smash them in the semi/final" but frankly, i'd rather not see it get that far. Too close for comfort, that.

Defo, only takes a lucky draw and a dodgy reffing decision in the final. Highly unlikely but I'd rather not risk it like you say.

Going through could also very easily and realistically have a massively positive effect on their league form. Arsenal have a history of completely crumbling when they have a big letdown - eg elimination from the CL or losing the League Cup final last year.

Plus, as i've hinted at, once you get to the last 8, it's getting to the point where almost anyone could win it, with a good draw. I'd rather not leave it to chance personally. **** Arsenal, i'm hoping it goes to 5-0 and then Milan snatch one in stoppage time - that'd ****ing destory Arsenal and THAT is what's most likely to **** their heads up and lead to a crumble in the league.

no Chris i hate Liverpool and am secretly plotting against them with my unflinching support of Arsenal

The longer they stay in the champs league the more stretched their squad will be, and as the season go on injuries and weary legs from a long hard season competing on both fronts will take it's toll.

Forgetting all that i love a good underdog story

                              From the BBC comms:

From William Hayward on Twitter: "Deja Vu. Remember the AC Milan - Liverpool final? First goal a header. Second a Czech midfielder. Third goal a penalty."

                              No fourth goal though!

Maybe, but equally players say they dont feel tiredness when they are winning every few days. We didnt look tired in our treble season and it seemed like we were playing every day!

But even forgetting the League I dont want an English team getting through. What happens if they draw Lyon/Apoel next, Napoli/Benfica draw eachother and Arsenal get the winners of that?! They'd get to the final.
