A bit harsh if you ask me...a fine and a suspended sentence, maybe some community service would've been enough but to be sent down is a bit heavy handed.

Well verbal abuse is a form of assault (if the victim feels threatened) and their is the harassment act of 1996, along with Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1988 says it is an offence to use abusive, threatening or insulting words language or behaviour with the intention of casuing alarm distress of harrassment. I doubt the case is a simple as made out her or in the media.

I doubt the lad was tried on a single offence.

Nothing like good news. I've never been easy about incitement to various hatred laws and this shows how ridiculous things have got. Guilty of one further charge of owning recordings related to "stirring up racial hatred".

Well he did get imprisoned without trail. This is what happens when gov's get over zealous sadly, if the case had been treated correctly it'd been much easier to correctly sort out.

Teflon coated? He's been in gaol for seven years with neither charge nor trial, which utterly violates any notion of habeas corpus. And that's Teflon coated?
