    This season's Premier League XI

    Hi everyone'

Was talking to a mate about the best Prem 11 this season and what struck me was, in my opinion, there are very few United players who would make it. I found that surprising as they will most likely be champions.

    Anyway, my team was

    Hart
    Glen Johnson
    Kompany
    Skrtel
    Baines
    Silva
    Yaya Toure
    Scott Parker
    Ben Arfa
    Rooney
    Van Persie

    What does everyone else think?

First thing that strikes me is I'm so used to putting Reina on these lists - not quite warranted this year though. Decent argument for Johnson, but Walker and Richards have both done slightly better at right back IMO.

I'd probably have Bale ahead of Ben Arfa. Valencia's probably slightly unlucky to miss out, but you make a good point in that Utd don't have many strong contenders. It really is all about the TEAM.

Based entirely on how I think they've played this season I'd go with the following

        Hart

        Baines
        Kompany
        Skrtel
        Walker

        Bales
        Toure
        Parker
        Silva

        Rooney
        RVP

If Cisse had been there all season he might well have got it also Sessingnon from Sunderland was pretty close, had a good season IMO

          Hart

          Richards
          Kompany
          Skrtel
          Baines

          Bale
          Toure
          Cabaye
          Silva

          Ba
          RVP

Cabaye may very well be a dirty *******, but he's been bloody great for Newcastle this season. Not singling him out as the best, just think he's the only one on my list that needs to be justified!

People seem to forget David Silva stopped playing in December.

            Hart
            Walker
            Skrtel
            Kompany
            Baines
            Valencia
            Yaya
            Scholes
            Bale
            RVP
            Aguero

Would have liked to have found a place for Dempsey, Ba, Britton. Silva probably should have been in but I wanted to be different

Tiote or Cabaye over Scholes wouldn't argue with that either.. Vorm or El Habsi could easily have made it too.

              David Silva
              Yaya Toure
              Scott Parker

Ben Arfa took until about March to break into the Newcastle team, how can he be even considered for team of the year?

                Hart

                Richards
                Kompany
                Kaboul
                Baines

                Valencia
                Yaya Toure
                Lucas
                Silva

                RVP
                Dempsey

                Close but no cigar:

Ba, Cisse, Coloccini, Enrique, Joe Allen, Britton, Skrtel.

                      Why?

                      edit: Just noticed! Meant Valencia.

strange season, there aren't very many players nailed on.

Generally I think you are right about the team thing but I think a case can be made for a fair number of their players as the division has been pretty devoid of great individuals who have kept it up all season. For me Valencia and Carrick have been consistently better than nearly anyone in the division. Since his comeback Scholes has been phenomenally good for me.

Best players who have only been really involved/performed for part of the season would be an interesting one:
Scholes, Ben Arfa, Silva, Adebayor, Bale all contending for that title.

Also, I'm still unconvinced by both Richards and Walker at RB. I think Walker will develop but right now both seem a bit rubbish when actually tested in defensive situations.
