We cant afford to have 80k a week reserves though.

Linking it with the Torres deal makes it a bit sweeter though. IF we sold Carroll for 15m we wouldnt be taking to big a hit on the deal as an overall.

If any team offers us £20m+ for Carroll we should accept it. I wouldn't loan him to an Italian team, we've been down that road before. I like Andy Carroll and he has improved significantly recently, however I don't believe that we play or desire to play the type of football required to get the best out of him. I wouldn't be too upset if he moved on for a reasonable fee.

Need to replace him with strength if he goes... if we could get a GREAT winger and Borini, we'd be okay. But we'd need greatness in his place.

It also cannot bode well for Downing (although no one seems to have asked), since I can't see him and Enrique out on the left playing the kind of chemistry-free football they showed last year in BR's system. The "two men, one ball, blind alley, **** it" concept won't work and if Downing's job was to get AC some crosses, which he sucked at, I am not sure why he'd be here, either.

I don't think we should care about the loss. The aim is to have a better squad going forward. The only relevant question is whether any money raised could improve the team. I have my doubts his current market worth reflects his ability (although obviously we over valued him when we bought him but the circumstances were pretty unique).

Talking of selling a player as they seem to be fulfilling their potential is a bit of a worry. I really fear we are in for another 'transition year'.

If anyone associated with the club is talking of 'English ****' or whatever else is being suggested it is a pretty terrible sign. Either it means management team members trying to get excuses in early or Ayre and co. going a bit Purlsow. Either of which is a bad sign.

Would be ****ing diabolical if he goes out on loan. He should be one of our 4-5 strikers for this season

I so do hope that Downing goes. Don't care where to or how much, I just want him gone.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't see the point. Who can we get in who is better than Carroll for that sort of money?

If he's loaned for a season then he comes back in 2013 with just two years left on his contract and a signal that he's not part of our future plans. We're then looking at £10m bids.

He might not be Rodgers' ideal striker, but he deserves a chance and he's at least a very good plan B.

                    Hopefully it's paper talk.
                    According to the article, Borini.

Personally, I never wanted us to sign Carroll for any fee. His form last year didn't surprise me in the slightest, although I was impressed with how he finished the season. Also thought he played well for England too. I'd like to see him given at least another season although fully understand if Rodgers wants rid. My only concern with that is I can fully imagine him going on and having a great season elsewhere and we'll feel like we missed out (ignoring the fact that another club might play to his strengths).
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I feel exactly the same way. I don't really think he's a good fit for us, and despite being woeful initially (perhaps due to injury - want to give him the benefit of the doubt) he's shown willingness to improve and has increased his playing level. Whether it's good enough for a Liverpool striker regardless of price, I don't know but he's defnitely taking steps in the right direction. I hope he gets another season, but I wouldn't be distraught if he was sold, if we're trying to get players of the right profile to play upfront. By some of the targets we've been linked to though, and our seeming inability to sign players (Sigurdsson situation) I'd prefer we kept our powder dry and and gave Carroll another season regardless before doing something reckless.

The idea of loaning him to Milan is bizarre, and I wouldn't imagine it would happen, but Italian football would would be the best thing for him. I think a season in Italy, if he was willing to learn would benefit his game tremendously. As I say though, can't imagine it happening.
