I'm not a fan of how this has been handled but I don't see a problem with it in principle.

I guess we have to trust this summer to the idea that Rodgers has a better idea of what type of players best suit his system.

If we can get rid of Carroll i can see a distinct possibility of liverpool resigning michael owen.
Jacques Brel is alive and well and playing at Anfield

Anyone remember the Rafa "I've just sold Gerrard rumours" when he was appointed. It's always fun when a new man is comes in because of this type of speculation. Normally a big name does go because of the need if the new manager to quickly stamp down his authority. Quite often its not the one you expect though.

Why ? Is BR going to nail him up next to the the TIA sign as a warning to others who might think the grass is greener else where.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

There's also a possibility that Rodgers would have been told that he needs to make a sale if he wants to bring in the 3-4 players he mentioned. Out of all the squad he probably sees Carroll as the one who least fit into his system while also bringing in the highest return (15m?).

There's probably something in that. The problem is we've lost some good experienced players for next to nothing - Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio who need to be replaced.

Add to that probably Bellamy too. Yep, not much return on those lot.

Rbbie fowler was by far a better player. And can you the imagine the reception judas would get if he came back, never mind the damage it could do you Rodgers when it doesn't work out to much of a gamble.

Owen doesn't care for Liverpool. He wouldn't come back even if fans would welcome him back.
