But surely there is no reason for anyone to be making excuses. No one needs to be making excuses for Rodgers' decisions, and indeed Rodgers does not need anyone making excuses for him. Personally I can just see the logic behind his decision - but I'm not making excuses for what he deems the best course of action.Originally posted by Rowan View PostAbsolutely. Getting rid of Carroll (especially without having ever seen him train in person) is madness. Having played a Carroll-lite type at Swansea for all last year the idea that Andy won't fit the system seems to just be the most convenient excuse. No wonder he's absolutely livid.

I think getting rid of him is going to be easier said than done thoughOriginally posted by TheElephantMan View PostI don't have any sympathy for Andy Carroll, he's been very fortunate and I'm sure he will do well wherever he goes. Seems like a decent bloke, but as many have stated he just isn't suited to our intended style of play. There's no point keeping hold of him and using him occasionally, that's a waste of his ability and wages that could be better spent. He never really seemed to be a good fit for us, let's get rid whilst his value is reasonably high.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. No wonder the lads pissed off
He deserves the chance to prove himself.
There were tons and tons of signs late in the season and at Euros that Andy finally started believing in himself and got the confidence back.
And what do we do, we throw all that away by publically stating we would entertain the loan/sale idea without even trying to fit him in the system when Rodgers openly said all players will get the chance.

I think the club has mis-managed this one once again
This will cost the club imo big styleBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Who knows what is happening behind the scenes. Maybe FSG have told BR he needs to bring in some money before we can buy again.
Agree that AC should be given a chance at least, and could at the very least still be used as an impact sub next season."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

Aye its better to trade for cash and players but this assumes a willingness for Carroll to go on either loan or on a permanent transferOriginally posted by Bender View Postit already did and has when we bought him .....if were not keeping him it's better to trade him for cash and players
I dont believe the willingness to depart is there from Carroll and as such we are going to have to give financial incentives for him to goBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Such as?Originally posted by Rigadon View PostWe paid £35m on the basis of one good season in the PL. In a season and a half with Liverpool, Carroll has (unfortunately) done nothing to justify half of that fee.

I don't get why people don't get this. Unless Carroll is threatening to become the next Ian Rush in 6 months for Brendan Rodgers to 'see if he's worth keeping' then I would hazard Bredan has seen more of Carroll last year than any Liverpool fan (and that includes Mostar).
FSG + release of funds + Rodgers knows his **** = Carroll out now. You don't even need parenthesis to work this one out.
Coming up next week: Brendan puts his left shoe on before his right. In a clear statement to his wife on their wedding night he said he would always put the right boot on first, but within weeks he reneged on his promises.
One tit for another.
