If they're after a loan, then surely we must be looking for a substantial loan fee and percentage of wages - otherwise, what is the point?

I genuinely have mixed feelings on Carroll - he looked like he was making a real effort to fit in and his upturn in form at the back end of the season brought him up to a minimum expectation level, rather than the lumbering oaf status he seemed destined to be stuck at.

His movement was infinitely better, but he's not very mobile. His first touch was better, but its never going to be deft. His awareness was better, but he's never going to be an anticipatory striker. He scored some goals and looked dangerous, but he's never going to be prolific.

Sure, it might seem like we're expecting an instant impact, but for that kind of investment (BobtheCharmer) meeting the minimum level of expectation of any striker coming through, regardless of where they came from and how much they cost, isn't really enough to justify the huge amount of time and money it has cost already.

I think a loan is the worst thing that can happen to be honest.

If Rodgers doesn't want him then we need to sell. A loan where we're still paying a percentage of his salary and chalks another year off his contract is of no use to us at all.

Yes agree. I don't want him to go,well not yet, but getting a bit wary of this tic tac style of play that Caroll won't be part off,yet we have not kicked a ball in anger and Rodgers thinks Caroll cannot be part of it. ( I know it's not tic tac, before the you have it wrong brigade jump in)
It's a prediction thread on a wish list.

I know what you mean mate.

I know a few people have said it already but I'm convinced it's down to money, which is why I can't see us loaning him out.

Loan with a commitment to buy and they pay all his wages, good deal all round.
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

If they are committed to buying and they are going to pay his wages, why dont they just buy him now? Either sell him or keep him this loaning business does not work at the top end. This was the worse transfer of all time.

                    Lessons learned?
                    Every player has his price
Even if they are the record signing...
Some players work out, others don't
Us, as fans, should get behind the manager
Changes happen - we need to embrace them
Knowledge - none of us know anything, its all conjecture
Signings are essentially a punt, a gamble, a shot in the dark

West Ham have made a bid for Andy Carroll but he ideally wants Newcastle return. Watch this space.

If Carroll goes to WH or the Toon and does well in their system wouldn't he be worth more as he still has 4/5 years left?

He'd have three years left if he goes on loan next season.

I can't see his value increasing at all regardless of how well he does next year.

Seems like we've shown our hand already, and once it's common knowledge that a player is no longer in your plans then it gives the potential buyers more of a chance to get the price down.

                              Can we FFS sell anybody?

Cole on loan, Aquilani on loan, Pacheco on loan, Wilson on loan, now possibly Carroll..

Sky Sports News reporting that Carroll hasn't travelled with the rest of the squad to America today.

They fail to point out he was due to join the squad later in the month.

                                Those rascals.
