Unless he wants to actually play those players (both of whom are significantly better than Carroll for the team).Originally posted by Lecter View PostOn that basis Cole & Aquilani should be kicked into touch immediately also

Why do you assume he is keeping them, or even assume they won't play? Pure guesswork on this Lec. I agree with most you say but think you're blinkered on the issue of Carroll. I can't for the life of me see why.Originally posted by Lecter View PostOn that basis Cole & Aquilani should be kicked into touch immediately also
I know BobTheCharmer will moan at everything as he's just crying about the sacking of Dalglish, but I suspect you'd see the bigger picture.Forwards.......

What do you mean by 'financial incentives?' Surely there's around 15 million 'incentives' for selling a player the manager clearly doesn't see a future for. Not to mention his rather large wages.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI never said Rodgers should be forced to keep anyone
However I dont see much if any financial incentives from selling him, they will be minimal to say the least
Which comes around to the point of being able to afford and attract players
I think we will struggle on that score at this moment in time - with or without the sale of Andy Carroll
If we don't sell him, will his value decrease further? I'd say that's likely.
I think the arguments for getting rid are far, far stronger than the ones for him to stay. If Rodgers doesn't see him fitting the system, then that's that really isn't it.K ris90210

That's true. There's bound to be a few Premiership managers convinced that they can get the best out of Andy Carroll. I think he'll go, and I reckon we'll get between 15 and 20 million for him.Originally posted by dizzycat View PostGiven that Carroll could probably guarantee league survival for some teams I think that a 17m plus deal is not out of the question. If he's a goner at Anfield a lot of teams will want him.K ris90210

I struggle to see how either of them will be more than bit part playersOriginally posted by Mattshark View PostUnless he wants to actually play those players (both of whom are significantly better than Carroll for the team).
Cole is vastly overrated anyway and I think he is actually the anti-thesis of Rodgers style of football
He holds on to the ball too long and "guilds the lily" far too much
For a player supposedly earning 30% more than Carroll is in wages its hard to justify keeping him as a bit part player also
As for Aquilani he wants back to Italy and I've no doubt the club will facilitate this sooner or later
I hope we get rid of both of them two before CarrollBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I find it really odd if Rodgers is really going to put Carrol out to pasture?
Are the Liverpool owneres about to buy Inesta?isTorres coming back? or maybe they are going for Renaldo? I sincererly doubt it.
as it stands currently Liverpool are at best a mid table PL team.they need some really top notch players to get anywhere near the top 4 or 5

Both Cole and Aquilani are technical players who 'could' possibly fit the system, which is probably why Rodgers wants to take a closer look at them. I don't think Carroll has the touch or technique required to play in Rodgers' system - and I think that's why he wants shot of him.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI struggle to see how either of them will be more than bit part players

Sell him then. He makes no difference. He is ineffectual. Neutral. A blank. A busted flush. A non-entity. A waste of space. A lamp post without a bulb. A jaffa. A blunt instrument. A ganglian.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI never said Rodgers should be forced to keep anyone

What worries me is that we seemingly have to sell to buy, that is not a situation i wanted us to be in, shows exactly how damaging to us last summer was, I said at the time that it would be the window that defined out immediate future and we ****ed it.Last edited by Gibbo; 16-07-12, 01:37 PM.The times they are a changin'.

I mean yes we might earn £15 million at a stretch but there is no doubt we will have to pay off a sizeable proportion of his remaining contract
Considering hes on upwards of £75K per week by all accounts then this is over £15.6 million in wages remaining on his contract
Obviously we wont have to pay that much out but in the past we have paid off huge sums of money to get rid of people (Jovanovic for one)
Its apparent the lad doesnt want to leave so I expect negotiations on any particular pay off will be difficult and more than likely expensiveBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
