I know for a fact that is we had a cash rich owner like City and PSG who got the new stadium built and invested big in the team, we would very quickly win the league. And in the process we would fast become one of the most prominent teams in world football. No doubt whatsoever IMO.

A successful Liverpool team is a marketing mans dream - we would become a monster of a club with a new stadium and 3 or 4 genuine world class players.

But hey ho, we need to do it the hard way it seems. I like FSG but I honestly am not sure if they are the right owners for us.

****ing hell, you've not got to go back very far to remember the dark days of hicks and gillett. As Liverpool fans we should know better than most what 'bad' owners are. Short memories, some of you.

Woh, hold your horses right there. I never said they were bad owners did I? FFS, I just said I do not think they are the 'right' owners for a club of this stature. ****ing hell.

Did you think they were the right owners when they rescued the club from the brink of bankruptcy? You should show a little more appreciation. We are lucky to have fsg in charge.

This stuff is just as daft as massive criticism of them. They shouldnt be getting praise for not being Hicks and Gillett.

Oh come on, we all know they bought us out of pity.

I remember JH recounting the tale of when he heard about the club, and the sad position this great instituation found itself in....and the words he uttered when he realised he had to save us......."LIVER..Who!????"

Yeah it's plain daft, Henry didn't even know we existed and purely saw an opportunity to increase his wealth. All this saviour bollocks it stretching it a bit, he wants to build an efficient model to maximise longterm profits that's all.

They will sell us as soon as their belief in our future as a cash cow diminishes. That's a fact. Their is no loyalty left in this game in a professional capacity, there is us the fans and them, and the sooner we all accept that the easier it will be. I trust no one in this game, no one.

I do though think there is a chance that they may build an affinity to the club over the years,i think winning is very important to them, and when you win with a club as it's owner..i would think it makes you feel pretty darn good, and the response JH etc would get from the fans if they got things right would be hard to ignore on an emotional front, i think.

But yes, they bought us to maximise our profits, turn us into a top club making money, and then think about selling the club on in a healthy state, unlike when they bought it, but that timeline ending with fsg selling us on could be as long as 12yrs.imo.

No, because that would have meant he played well and scored 31 goals..

He'd probably have done anything to keep Maxi if he was Lionel Messi

Van Persie was top scorer but Arsenal didn't win the league..
Yakubu was joint 4th and Blackburn were relegated..

My original point was if Carroll was a prolific goalscorer, would Rodgers have found a way to accomodate him, or does his style of football have absolutely no place for him, regardless..

What's that got to do with anything? Both players scored a good amount of goals and both clubs (if possible) would have wanted to keep both players.

Carroll didn't score a good amount of goals, neither does his style of play fit into the managers philosophy, so he wants to sell/replace.

If Carroll was top scorer (like you said) he'd have scored a minimum of 30 goals.. ANYONE would want a player that can produce those figures.

So what's the point of having a player who doesn't fit into your system/style of play, regardless of how many goals he scores..

Are you saying Rodgers would change his methods to fit him in?

                                All hypothetical really..
