I just hope he has a good season for West Ham so we can recover as much as possible of that stupid fee.
    Never knowingly optimistic

Didn't exactly set the world on fire against the mighty san Marino though, did he. Carroll always did feel like an expensive but unwanted present. A jumper from grandma if you will. You instinctively don't like it, but wear it repeatedly in the vain hope it'd grow on you. I tried so hard to like Andy, but I couldn't help but see a slow, creaking giant with an unfairly massive pricetag weighing him down .

He's ****! And if we get £18m for him I'll be made up as well as being shocked.

Doesn't offer anything to our game at all.. In fact ignoring the media hype he's done **** all for West Ham that's any different from his time here.

We'd be much better off with the cash.

£25m for him and Downing and get a couple of players in. Simple

Lets not ignore the media hype - that's our best hope of getting a decent fee for him!

What does that matter if we ignore it? We aren't paying ourselves for him

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says he has not yet considered ending Andy Carroll's loan spell at West Ham to increase his striking options.
Reds forward Fabio Borini is expected to be out for up to three months after breaking his foot, leaving Luis Suarez as Rodgers' only recognised striker.
It is understood Liverpool have an option to recall record signing Carroll from his season-long loan in January.

But Rodgers said: "It isn't something I have considered, to be honest."

The Liverpool manager said they would be assessing the situation due to Borini's injury.
"Andy has obviously gone out to get games," he said. "We have people watching when he plays and they report back on how he is doing."

Yet another ringing endorsement of a player by Brendan.

His opinion of Carroll has been pretty apparent for a while. Quite why he thinks it best to keep talking about him is a bit odd, a simple 'I prefer to concentrate on the players I have here now' comment would have sufficed.

sometimes brendan does this club no favours with his ready replies and his love of making quotes for the pressers

if he just kept schtum without giving the impression that carroll is **** the fee might not be reducing on a daily basis
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I think it is all fair enough. As for reducing the fee. West Ham or somebody similar will pay the asking price if they think he can add to their team. No amount of quotes from Rodgers will change that.

I tend to agree that it won't be a major factor in the fee (at least at this stage everyone knows that a/ we don't want him and b/ there is only limited competition for his services - although in part that is Rodgers fault). Whilst it is 'fair enough' in some ways it just doesn't feel right, a manager being seen to criticise a player we still own but that hasn't done anything wrong.

I see what you mean, Carroll can do that all by himself.

You can certainly see, at least in flashes when its worked this season in the final third, how ill suited Carroll would be to how Brendan wants his forward-minded players to operate. Quick movement, press and run the defenders etc......completely at odds to how Carroll's best game is geared toward.
I'm not even totally convinced he could offer us a 'Plan B' option from the bench as we look towards the more possession based mentality throughout the first XI.
Of course if he came back and weighed in with a few goals, that'd be great, but I think Brendan would rather the 15m or so to spend on who he wants

To be honest I don't see how the quote above was a criticism of Andy Carroll. Maybe its just the way I read it but I didn't see the intent to put him down in that one. I think he merely said that Andy wasn't in his plans which is honest and refreshing for me as other managers might have said something different.
