Kyle Walker wins his first England cap this season, a promising English full-back to compete with Richards. What better way for the English elite at the PFA to help him than to give him that award.

    Prats.

You realise that the PFA is voted for by the players?
      *Except Michael, who died.

Pretty much expected that RBP was a no brainer. For me 23 isn't a young player, to be honest i thought Aguero was 24 anyways, withon the current rules Aguero should have romped it but Aguero in the young player of the year just seems weird to me.

Walker has been very impressive this season for me, has all the tools, still a bit raw but IMO looks a talent. People mentioned Ekotto, said it before christmas and got lambasted by the the usuals, he has dramatically improved and been excellent this season.

To be honest the fact that this is voted for by the players, and not the media etc i have alot more time for it.

Walker has been very shaky defensively imo.

I did some research and since inception (1973 I guess), there has only been one Mid Fielder who has got into the PFA team of the year for 7 or more times and this player was from the First Division/Prem League which ever way you want to call it.

              Guess who?

Also there have only been 3 players ever from the top division to have won it 7 or more times. Guess their names.

Midfielder I would guess at Steven Gerrard.

Over last few months Spurs have been in freefall and most of their players have looked ropey.

IMO up to that he was very impressive, given he can improve defensively and is still a bit raw, but he really has burst onto the scene & his fellow professionals seem to consider him the best young talent around.

The fact that it's the players who vote on this is more than good enough for me, and as i rate Walker highly anyways i can see why he got it.

                    Yep.

The other two players are Peter Shilton and Kenny Sansom.

Yep, has cost them goal after goal whether it was at Newcastle earlier this season, Man City or the more recent games v Utd, Bolton and Arsenal. He's incredibly thick.

But as Niall Quinn said yesterday on sky, the majority of players just pick up the paper, read who's getting a bit of hype and vote for them.

Spurs have loaned out a better player.

And United at WHL as well.

Being a footballer doesn't relate to being knowledgable about football.

Love the way people pick certain things pundits say to suit their argument but then lambast 99% of the rest of them

But 99% of the things pundits say are idiotic.

Depends on the context. A lot of them are morons who can barely string a sentence together, often commenting on stuff they cant possibly have a clue about. But having been a footballer for 19 years Niall Quinn might have a slight idea about how the PFA awards work.

I have met Niall Quinn several times, went to same school as him. He is a very intelligent guy and is a lovely bloke. No doubts he knows his stuff, as i'm sure a hell of lot of the players that voted do, as i'm sure many pundits do.

It's natural for people to agree with opinions that suit their argument, we all do it. My point being these players that voted have played against Walker and play with Walker, so surely they above anyone can make a proper assessment of how good he is, as oppose to a pundit? Even one as cool as Quinner
