Actually, they're not. They've made a very good appointment. A guy who knows the system and gets on well with the players. Think it will be a smooth transition.

Also I think Vilanova appointment will enable Barca to do what we should have done when KK was feeling the stress in the 90's. We should have given him 6 months to a year away from the game and asked him to come back.

Imagine if Pep comes here and brings with him his 3-4-3 with the DM as center half policy

          Johnson Spearing Carragher

          Henderson Adams Stevie G Downing

          Maxi Suarez Kuyt

Our games would be something else

Good point. Can you play Barca style football with limited players?
              Forwards.......

If he goes to another club, I doubt he will try to recreate the same philosophy, he'll need to work the existing culture at the new club and it will be totally different IMO.

Then employing him would be a massive risk.

The best can use what they have and find a style that works. Rafa in 2005 was a good example of this.

Mourinho is the best in the business. Took in the impossible job of overtaking Barca and has done it in two seasons. Impressive.

I think so, he came through at Barca and they have spent many years at laying the groundwork, Pep can't replicate that at another club IMO. But he did get the best out the players at his disposal, improved them and was usually tactically spot on (he really missed Villa this season).

His basic philosophies will be there wherever he goes. He can build a side playing great football as long as he finds a team willing to back him and allow him to build.

That's Mourinho's next objective too; build a dynasty at a club.

I think we'll see them both doing it in the Premier League within the next few years.

I am not sure about Mourinho building a dynasty though. Great manager and the best in the business when backed by money.

However, I don't see him as a let us develop youngsters and nurture talent sort of manager. He normally works with the finished article and does a brilliant job of it. Of course, I am not fully aware of how he developed his squad at Porto though.

I also think his style is too abrasive to stay at a club for a long time. He generates a brilliant team spirit, us against them mentality, but most of it is rooted in the world is out to get us paranoia. I don't think he can last more than 4 to 5 years at any club.

I can't believe Barca have overlooked Hodgson again.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
