Incredible really. Possibly the second worst decision in the history of football. Look at his recent track record. Liverpool sack European Cup winning, la liga winning internationally reputed manager Rafa Benitez to appoint Roy Hodgson followed just under 2 seasons later by The English FA release La Liga winning, Italian league winning, Euro Cup winning manager Fabio Capello to replace him with.... Roy Hodgson.

I'm no massive fan of Redknapp but he is clearly the players and supporters choice for the job. With him being a bit of a media darling I could actually see him coaxing a decent tournament out of the Engkand squad and having the press support him. As we know he is ready to do an interview at the drop of a hat (electric window), and if he managed to get a couple of favourable results I could see Redknapp replicating the Venables effect of '96, galvanising the team and picking up public support and momentum. Redknapp likes his teams toplay football, and obviously wants to do the job at some stage.

Hodgson is capable of none of these things, he is going to make Schteve McClaren look a good appointment. Listening to 5 live all day today and the response to Hodgson is totally underwhelming.

My problem with this, is that i'd like Hodgson to do well enough NOT to be sacked straight after the Euros - so that he can **** England's WC qualifying campaign too.

I was thinking that he is being set up to be the fall guy when England bomb in the comp. The new manager will not have had any time with the team to get them ready and then they can sack the old duffer and get Harry for the world cup.
