When countries like France and Spain do a long term grass roots overhaul, they actually do it and then wait for it to pay dividends. Which it has.

When we do it, all we do is write it down, say it over and over in the media and don't actually do anything.

Last I checked, England do reasonably well in youth tournaments & have plenty of talented players to pick an international side. What they lack is a manager who has a clue. We always pay one of the highest wages ( Hodgson second highest paid behind Capello) so we should expect a top class appointment.

You realise this overhaul started about 2-3 years ago? Coaching methods have changed. One of my best mates has a up to Level 3 FA badge, and over the last couple of years has done a load more for youth coaching. He tells me there is much more focus on ball retention, and basic skills. He now teaches the community coaches for Chelsea in these new methods.

To say we dont do anything is just wrong. It will take about 10 years to come through the system the whole way.

No. General consensus is there is no one better to take over.

He's come across as a nice bloke and there isn't much for the media to get their claws into. The longer he stays the more chance of them turning on him. Failure to qualify for the Euros would be curtains. The vast majority of the fans in the country that follow England seem to accept him. Seems fair enough that he stays. At no point in my life would I ever consider paying to watch international football, its dull, so although his negativity annoys me, not anywhere near enough to get upset about it. Capello s Russia were ****ing dire the other night and they will qualify as their group is ****. Still turgid rigid **** though.
