These are from Belgian TV commentary
'Roy Hodgson is watching this game like a cow watching a train pass by. He has no idea what is happening.'
'Roy learned 40 years ago in a course that you do your first substitution during halftime, and then your second one after 60 minutes.'

Thats the most accurate summary of Roys managerial style yet.

Just love how the media has all suddenly seen him for what he is

Even that teflon clown can't survive an England failure

This is going to be gold. Roy feeling cornered is a recipe for some classic diversion, exaggeration, blame. Quotes should be priceless.

Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann: Premier League is a fraud and England players are bang average

Former German international doesn't hold back in wake of Iceland humiliation

Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann has slammed the Premier League as a “fraud” after England’s humiliating Euro 2016 demise.

And the German believes Everton duo Ross Barkley and John Stones could be the only members of the failed squad with the potential to interest Europe’s leading clubs.

England boss Roy Hodgson resigned within minutes of his team being dumped out of the European Championships when beaten by Iceland 2-1 in their round of 16 tie in Nice on Monday night.

It was the national team’s most embarrassing defeat in more than 60 years and Hamann, speaking as a pundit for Irish television broadcaster RTE, pulled no punches.

“English people believe the hype of the Premier League,” said the German. “They have sold a Skoda for a Lamborghini for the last 15 years.

“The Premier League is average. If you look at Spain and Germany and the standard of football and look at the quality of football, it’s in a different league to England.

“Because it’s been watched all over the world, that doesn’t make it the best programme.

“They’ve created a brand, fair do to them, the players earn a lot of money, and all these players should light a candle every time they go to bed at night, because if they were Icelandic, Portuguese, Dutch or German, they would struggle to earn a quarter of the money they’re on now.

“It’s not their fault that the clubs are paying that money. But it’s over-inflated, the Premier League is a fraud.”

Hamann added: “Because people generate so much money by watching it on television, people believe it is the best league in the world.

“In the Champions League, the English teams have been struggling for a number of years now. There were times 10-15 years where we had three teams in the semi-final.

“But the best players play in Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid, and they pay world-class wages for above average players.”

Iceland, featuring in their first major championship, are the lowest-ranked team in the tournament and have a population lower than the metropolitan borough of Liverpool.

And of England’s loss, Hamann added: “Yes, it’s a shock in a way, but I don’t think we should be too surprised.

“It’s not that the English players weren’t interested, they were. But this is as good as they are.

“If you could look through the team, can you see anyone play for the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the next five years?

“Maybe Stones and Barkley, apart from that it’s bang average.

“And how many of these players would be on the radar of the top clubs (right now)?

“You could make a case for Sturridge and Rashford, who did more in the five minutes coming on than the rest of the team going forward.”
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

I'm going to say it coz I'm half-cut, but Ferguson would be a good short term solution.
Personally, despite my dislike for him, I think that Redknapp would be a good international manager with decent players like England have. He has a decent eye for a player and his instincts during a match are good. He'd be more Deschamps than Conte but it would be a step up IMO.

Ideally, I think we should follow the German model and go for a charismatic, visionary manager (as Klinsmann was) and a respected coach (in the Löw role). Roy was a sensible enough short term appointment when he got the job but he was found out at the World Cup and we keep seeing that tournaments are different to qualification but not doing anything to adapt.
