The bad thing is that Pieenar is far better than Downing and cost so much less.

          Also from BBC Gossip:

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay says the club have not finished spending yet. Chelsea have paid £65m for new players this summer and could also pay £32m for Napoli striker Edison Cavani, £7m for Wigan's Victor Moses and £8m for Marseille defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

How the **** can they get away with spending £112m (if they do actually get all the above mentioned)...?

They picked up something like £50m for winning the CL. Plus they've got rid (and will get rid) of quite a few high earners this summer.

Shows how badly we need to get back into the CL.

Yeah, I get that, but aren't you only allowed to put in £40m along with your profit and the Chavs certainly don't have any profit.

Almunia's a good signing for them.

Juventus plan to spend £70m on Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, 28. The package includes both the transfer fee and the player's wages and is intended to ensure they beat Manchester United and Manchester City to his signature.
