    Shinji Kagawa...

According to an article t'other day (see here) we were in advanced talks with Shinji Kagawa before Comolli got the boot:

It is understood that the club were in a strong position on several deals back in March, but since Comolli's departure, those deals have not been closed. Priority targets like Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa and Montpellier’s Olivier Giroud could end up moving to rival clubs.
That would sicken me if, after being close, he ended up signing for the ****e. If we were to get him that'd be one of the biggest coups we'd ever pulled off for a player that good to come to us in the state we're in and with interest from other club closer to winning things.

    EDIT: Oops, wrong forum.

    Noob error

Yeah I think we were after him. Still I'd bet we were a long shot of actually landing him and he was always waiting for someone "bigger" to come along anyway. Much like happened with Ashley Young and Phil Jones last season. The cunts.

The truth hurts, but we're a fair way down the list of clubs players prioritise going to these days!

Incidentally I'm not convinced he's an ideal match for them. If there was one player I think would be perfect for them, and I'd be devastated if they signed it'd be Modric. Thankfully they never really seem to be in for him.

Kagawa isn't what they need - he's a classic #10 and that's Rooney's best position so either he'd be played out wide (waste), deep (waste) or push Rooney further forward at the expense of an actual forward (another waste).

He strikes me as the kind of player who would step down a level for a project, like Silva did but it depends on who's negotiating and at the moment that's nobody while United are surely in his ear and talking to his agent.

When Rooney plays further forward he seems to score for fun, don't think him pushing forward is a waste at all to be honest.

Maybe but sooner or later he's going to suffer for his over-running in the way that Gerrard is. I think he's a better #10 than a #9 because he NEEDS to be involved in the middle, scrapping for the ball and kicking people.

If he was my player, I'd have him playing deeper - like Aguero does and he looks better for City when he starts off deeper.

Kagawa spoke on German TV the day Dortmund lifted the title about his future.

He stated that his agent was still in talks with Dortmund about a new contract (his preferred choice) and he also said that his agent had spoken to many other teams but nothing concrete was on offer so I would dispute that we were remotely close to signing him. We may have made contact to test the water but little else.

I'm sure Everton nearly signed him too.

If I was him, I wouldn't want to leave Dortmund - just won their second title in as many seasons, completed a domestic double and they need to give the Champion's League a better go next year. Plus Reus is going to slot into their midfield and make it even more ridiculously good. Any player leaving that team is a mentalist.

Acted like a cunt how? If he's said his preferred choice is to stay with Dortmund...?

This could be all paper and agent talk, maybe the guy has no desire to leave Dortmund and they're just low-balling him on wages. He's integral to their recent success so if he wants a pay-rise and they don't give it him, I wouldn't blame him for wanting to go but I can't see Dortmund being that naive.

dunno, it might be f*cking media again, but his words weren't nice towards Borrusia.

Hmmm, you'll have to go find these words then.

They are one huge anomaly. Just a year ago they finished 14th.

They entire investment last year in the team was merely 2m of euros and they still won over PSG.

They are small club and their best players will move on.

I only hope we are in for Belhanda but with Kenny gone who knows any more..

Yup invariably seems to be the case with French players.

Do you know much about Giroud Mos?

He was nailed to go to PSG but rumours are that Gooners want him. If that is the case then RVP is on the way out .

Has a nose for the goals, better touch and is more mobile than Andy but he is also 2 years older.

Won't be cheap but he and Belhanda would be very good signings for us without CL football.
