Andy Brehme would have been playing the the early 90's. Lizarazu?

Would still prefer Bobby Cee to either of those.

        4-0 winners, ouch!
Everyone did. Shame the LFC team of the late 80's never played them

            He is

He also won a World cup by dragging his team to it, just like Maradona and Zidane and:wink:

            Torres too

All I ever hear is 'Messi will never be the greatest until he wins a world cup' It's rubbish. The peak of football nowadays is the club game. International football is on its arse.

He's the best ever already, but every superstar needs a nemesis. Who's to say he would have reached these heights if CR7 hadn't been around?

I like to think he would. I certainly think the rivalry has pushed him on in terms of goals though. But as we know, goals do not make the player. Then again, would Messi be the greatest if he didn't have the goals?

There wasn't really anyone to push Maradona, he was absolutely without doubt the best player in the world at the time. The nearest we got to the nemesis with him was from Pele and his sour faced moaning that he was better than Maradona ever was. Who knows - if they had played in the same era, maybe Maradona would have had a similair scoring record.

                      Doubt it though.

And no, even if Messi was only scoring half of what he does, he'd still be the best in the business. There's so much more to him than goals alone.

I mean like, no goals at all. I still think he would. He is so good at pretty much everything.

I still think Ronaldo is close behind him, he'll never be as good but he's as close as I think anyone will get for a long long time.

I always wondered what people thought of Messi playing in the teams ronaldo playing in and vice versa.

Because it makes it much easier to score goals when you are in a great team. Not to take anything away from Messi, but would Ronaldo (Brazilian) have scored as many/more if he was to be playing in this Barca team?

The scoring rate he had at an average Inter side was phenomenal
