Daily Mirror journo Darren Lewis says Clint Dempsey has made it clear he wants to leave Fulham , and expects him to join #LFC this summer.
Dempsey has not been included in Fulham’s pre-season plans and Lewis believes that the Texas-born forward could join the Reds sooner rather than later.
Do you seriously believe that FSG are forcing BR into taking on Dempsey? This is the same BR who stood up to the American overlords at the negotiation stage, and that was when he did finally agree to meet with them, after originally turning down their overtures??
I know you're all about trying to be controversial, but at least try to be a little realistic.
I don't think it's that far left-field to be honest.
I can't see how he'd fit in to a Rodgers formation which makes me think it's an FSG-led signing. Just because he said 'no' to a Director of Football doesn't mean he won't have certain things put on him.

I can't believe the amount of negativity towards Dempsey. I watched him a lot last season and on numerous occasions I thought I'd love it if we signed him!
He gives us a few things that we miss massively in games: desire, penetrating runs, and goal threat!
If we sign him for less than £10m, I'll be happy...
Shelvey, Henderson, Gerard, Aqualani, Cole - all of these players can play in "the hole" behind a front man and I'd rather we kept what money we have and play one of these players instead of Dempsey. Yes he is a decent player but nothing more and IMO he is nothing but a money making signing for the USA fanbase. He doesn't justify to me a reasonable outlay in money given his age and ability. Squad player? We don't need more squad players. We need first team starters.
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

And this is where we seem to fail regularly. Lets spend properly on players who will walk into te first team and improve us. If Dempsey is seen as this by the Manager, fair enough, who knows what impact he might have. He is just an uninspiring signing IMO.

If we are going to be playing 4-3-3, we need at least another 3 player for the front 3, dempsey would be one of them.

4-3-3 formation I'd still only have Dempsey as the furthest forward midfielder. I don't see the point in dempsey as a wide left forward and he doesn't have the ability to change to a main striker. We have Suarez, borini, sterling, Gerard (wide right possibly), downing, at present Carroll all better suited to the forward roles in a 433. If we need to ad more then a naturally gifted wide player like Walcott or afellay would be far better suited

Suarez
Borini
Affellay
Holtby
Dempsey
Sterling
Mids
Gerrard
Lucas
Allen
Shelvey
Henderson

This is what i think we are aiming for (not exact players obviously). Not all have to be young, inspiring, soon to be world class players.

I'm not trying to be controversial no, just stating that the owners have been touting him since last season when Kenny was still there.
Or he might be one of a number of players we're keeping an eye on, with rumours that Bellers may be in his way out.
Anything over than £5m for him would be taking the piss.
