Have to agree with this also. People on here seem to be totally out of touch with the going rate for players. We're all bright enough to realise that English players cost more than foreign players but yet there are a lot on here who seem to think just because they think the players aren't worth what's paid for them then they really aren't worth what's paid for them. Players tend to be worth whatever the club selling want for them or whatever the club buying them are willing to pay...

Absolutely not a guarantee whatsoever. Look at Adam, Downing and Carroll. All have found it difficult to replicate their form at a bigger club. It's not as simple as that. Comparing players' performances in a smaller club, with less pressure etc... and them playing under the spotlight.Originally posted by Parr_Zee View PostWe are signing a midfielder who is capable of scoring over 20 goals a season, and for less than £10m. I don't see a problem!
£10m is peanuts these days. Championship teams are signing players for around £5m these days...
There's no case for signing Dempsey, unless we are skint and he's being brought in on the cheap and would be used as squad filler as he's not good enough. Are we winning?

Well obviously there is a case as we are about to sign him.
Dempsey has been a really good player for Fulham and I think he will excel at LFC.
He is determined to step up to the next level and if we can get 2 godd years out of him at 75% of what he gave Fulham last season I would be delighted. Personally i have always liked Dempsey and felt we should have moved for him a couple of years ago.
In theory he should improve when surrounded by better players as well plus Rodgers would have seen plenty of him. I think Dempsey will prove to be a good signing for us.

We cant expect to spend the same amount of money as last years top 4 because we didn't achieve our goal.
The owners would be stupid to chuck more cash at the squad until they see a solid foundation for the team to be built on. Any improvement this season will see increased backing for Rogers as his blueprint becomes a reality.

For the last time, Nige, analogy is NOT the study of being an arsehole.Originally posted by NigelLG View PostWell, the top players. More of an analogy than anything specific.
Otherwise you'd be Professor LG..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.
