I don't know where this Rafa argument has come into it? All i did was name the quality players rafa bought that made our team great at the time and one of the best around yet some people have chosen to take that and turn it into some rafa bashing? For the faults rafa had he was without doubt one of our best managers and he did buy some crap but he bought quality as well which proved to make the difference.
Our club has been torn apart since 2007 and it was amazing rafa kept us so good for that long under the two cunts. As for spening £10m on a 29 year old Dempsey IMO just shows what is wrong with our transfer policy at this moment in time but im sure rodgers will change this in the long run. I just hope and prey that a culture of seling our best players and replacing them with rubbish replacements is behind us.
I have alot of faith in Rodgers to get it right but it will take him time.
There is no Rafa argument, you made that up yourself.
And those stats don't seem so bad for a mid table attacking midfielder.
But doing them with Fulham is a massive difference than doing them for us and the claim was a he a 20 goal a season midfielder and he still has actually only done that once.
He has been a pro for 8 years though, not 6 (2004 with New England).
His goals in the league for Fulham read:
1
6
7
7
12
17
Yeah I know Matt, the stats don't tell the whole story, and they're not transferable to a new club - Comolli and Kenny's whole recruitment drive proves that.
Still, beating him with a stat stick seems a bit unfair when he's scored a lot of goals for a middling club.
although i would say 5m would be about the money for dempsey, even if we end up spending nearer 10m it wouldnt be the end of the world.
yes, his age means there is little sell on value, but the most important thing is the goals he will bring to the team this year and next year. he will alllow us a little time until some of our youth make the step up. he will be a stronger leader of the front line and allow suarez and borini to zip around. a front three that will harry and chase down the opposition defenders is just what we need to allow our midfield to win back possession quickly.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
I don't think he'd be anywhere near as disastrous as last year's signings. He's a pest, always mobile, works hard - so he's not David Silva, but we are where we are. He could be a bridging signing to get us to where we need to be.
