Good luck Climp, and thanks for the memories.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I wish him well, he made it clear that he wanted to play for us despite us having pretty little ambition.

Gutted he's gone to Spurs as he strengthens their squad

Not bothered either way bout this miss. I didn't want him but would have backed him had he came. But I full heartedly agree with the price we offered. 29 year old with 1 season that wasn't average is not worth more than 3 million. Finally Liverpool are not being shafted by clubs for players who are not worth the excessive prices.

i feel so let down, like he has walked away from our relationship for another team... the ****, or is it because we ****ed about in the transfer, or ayre was trying to be the big "negotiator" and couldnt take it on the [massive] chin, knowing we had already sent carroll away on loan...

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Not his fault at all. He waited a month for us to agree a fee, even rejected another team early yesterday because he was still waiting for us and with 2 hours to go we still hadn't managed it

                  Shambles from our end

Tottenham: Clint Dempsey on verge of Seattle Sounders switch

Tottenham forward Clint Dempsey is close to joining Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders in his native United States.

The 30-year-old only joined Spurs last summer in a £6m move from Fulham and is expected to depart for a similar fee.

Spurs have agreed a deal to sign striker Roberto Soldado from Valencia, which is likely to have restricted Dempsey's first-team chances.

The US international's switch could be confirmed in the next 48 hours.

Dempsey, who has 99 caps, left New England Revolution in his homeland to join Fulham in January 2007.

He scored 50 goals in 184 league appearances for the Cottagers before Spurs beat Liverpool and Aston Villa to his signature.

Dempsey played 43 times for the White Hart Lane club, scoring 12 goals.

The Sounders went into the weekend's games seventh in the Western Conference of the MLS and have former Fulham players Marcus Hahnemann and Eddie Johnson in their squad.

Looks like Clint is going to be the highest paid player in the history of the MLS. He'll be making a similar salary to what he was making at Spurs, as well as being a guaranteed starter in a team that has been struggling to get into high gear all season long. The option for a single loan to a European team, means that he will be able to get tuned up for the World Cup early next year. Looks like a pretty simple decision to me. He will be adored in Seattle.

Good article on how the deal went down.

Surely he will not earn more than Beckham. Second highest paid is pretty damn fat wage packet but Beckham must have been on more. Wasn't he reportedly earning 10x as much as the second highest Galaxy player?

Becks was $500k per week iirc. His total earnings for his time with them was $255m

He's getting a slightly higher salary than Beckham did ($6.86 M a year vs $6.5 M according to the article). However, Beckham also got a percentage of ticket sales and shirt sales, which was not considered part of his salary - at least in the eyes of the MLS.

12 months on from getting gazumped by Spurs and much soul searching / frustration (sound familiar?), does anyone here look back and think we really missed out on this guy, and Siggurdson? Would they have been worth chucking a few extra million at? Any lessons learned for this summer?

Personally, I don't think we missed out at all.
                                Oh I don't know.
