I think the real reason it sits badly is the fact that it is plainly not the best players/teams there.

...Ish. And I think there is due to be Golf due in Rio. But tennis and Golf don't have the round the clock media saturation that football does, and the players are playing for only 4 majr tournaments a year.

Basically I need a break from football, and I just don't buy into the Olympics football tournament, and to me an Olympic Gold at football doesn't really prove anything.

I think a lot of negativity around Team GB is disappointing - totally unnecessary. You pick a squad for the tournament rules and give youngsters their head - there's some cracking players on show, at the Olympics for their country - if you can't get behind that, more the fool you.

agree about football and tennis not being true olympic sports. these sports are big enough to sustain a professional tour/league so grouping them with amateurs [although many are now sponsored???] is very strange.

Jonathan Pearce was at it last night as well.

When Coates had that header that hit Allen in the chest, both Coates and Suarez were appealing for handball, something most players do.

Yet Pearce decided to single Suarez out by mocking him and saying in an almost disgusted tone "Why's he appealing for that, he's behind the player, how could he have possibly seen it"

Well he probably didn't, but he did see Coates appealing and decided to join in, it's what footballers do these days.

Actually I agreed with Pearce, Suarez had no idea about that and really shouldnt have appealed.
