I haven't watched Serie A since Football Italia was canned.

I have never seen this lad play, so I've no idea if he's worth the figures that have been going around, but to me, the groundwork of this transfer was surely done by Comolli - makes me wonder if Rodgers will go with 'a player he admired anyway' line, or if it will be a transfer forced on him.

All if the rumours are true, obv.

                    here

Tottenham Hotspur have moved ahead of Liverpool in the pursuit of Gaston Ramirez after agreeing a €20m (£16m) fee with Bologna for the Uruguayan attacking midfielder.

Spurs hope to complete a deal for the coveted 21-year-old by the end of this week, but they have still to agree personal terms with the player. Their approach to Bologna comes amid serious doubts over the future of Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart at White Hart Lane, with Real Madrid linked with the Croatian and Schalke with the Dutchman.

Liverpool had been confident of signing Ramirez despite the dismissal of previous manager, Kenny Dalglish. The Uruguayan and Dalglish had spoken several times since a proposed £18m transfer to the Anfield collapsed as a result of the manager's shock departure from Anfield.

Bologna manager Stefano Pioli has conceded defeat in attempting to persuade Ramirez to stay in Italy. Liverpool's interest in Ramirez remains but the club fear that Spurs are firm favourites to complete the deal.

                              Stuart Downing wasn't worth £20m .

Got potential Ramirez, from what I've seen of him anyway, can be a bit hot and cold but would hopefully learn to be more consistent with age. Think he's the type of signing we should be looking at.
