It appears he has no future here, but if he stays he'll probably think that Rodgers basically said that Skrtel, Henderson, Enrique and Downing were done and gave all of them a lot of opportunities. Although we're in a completely different position now, financially and in stature.
That's how I see it too. I'd rather be unemployed than play for Harry Redknapp.
    Oh I don't know.

It's strange though as his record for England isn't bad (8 in 26). Some of his finishes for England have been excellent too. I think there's goals in him and it's actually a decent gamble by Wenger. I think he'll be a decent signing. Some may laugh but we'll see.

I certainly don't think it is the laughable choice some are making out. However, to put his international record in context, four of his England goals come against San Marino or Moldova. His backheel flick was a moment of genius but it isn't something one can do consistently in matches.

I'm sure I read yesterday (from on of the Opta Twitter accounts) that Welbeck had the same chance conversion rate as Sturridge last season

Interesting. Although my suspicion is that says more about the type of chances Sturridge takes on from deep than his finishing in the box.

Anyway, wonder if we will see anything other than League Cup cameos from Borini this season.

For real? He scored what 9-10 goals last season, how can that equate to the same conversation rate unless he hardly ever shots of course.

I think he's also shown a severe lack of self awareness if he thinks he deserves £90k a week. Deluded.
Clearly depends on your viewpoint on ambitions. If it's to play for a top club and take his chances there, then clearly going to QPR or Sunderland is the wrong move. If the ambition is to play regularly no matter where, then a relegation threatened club is fine I agree.

All I'm trying to say is, that if Borini want's to take a chance of training his way in to a top club and get games and win trophies then it's clearly a good choice staying a season and doing so. It's not exactly like a season and Sunderland got him closer, so why would it this time around?

I for one like that a player want's to fight for his chance rather than getting wattery eyes and leave at the first chance available. If it doesn't work out, I'm certain a bottom table club will come around next year as well.

If that's at all what happened of course

So by that he had a total of 36 shots at goal in total all of last season!

I think Welbeck is a decent player but looks like he needs to become more selfish if he's going to step up and be a consistent striker for a big club. He should get his chance at Arsenal so its up to him now.

Borini is a good squaddie to have although he should have gone but now he's here until January he gives us good cover and should help Balotellli too.

I don't think Borini has shown that he is prepared to fight for his place etc. The bottom line is that if QPR had offered the £90,000 per week he wanted he'd have gone. He wouldn't have said 'No. I'm not going because I want to fight it out to get in the first team at Liverpool'. All this talk about QPR being **** kind of pales into insignificance when you remember that he was prepared to go there and was discussing the move.

I'm not sure how that equates to ambition. In fact you could argue that Assaidi has shown more ambition by wanting to put himself out there, playing PL football every week.

I'm not doing as you say at all. I think Wellbeck is underrated. He's not a world beater but he's still relatively young and he will improve under Wenger's expert French tutelage.
