    BORINI TO SUNDERLAND
Italy football writer James Horncastle: "No one will be more pleased to see Liverpool striker Fabio Borini nearing a loan move to Sunderland than Italy coach Cesare Prandelli. It's hard to understate how highly regarded the 22-year-old is back home.

"A member of the Azzurri's Euro 2012 squad after scoring nine goals in his only season at Roma, Borini's first one at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers, his former mentor during his time at Chelsea's academy, was desperately unlucky. Injuries meant he never really got to show his worth.

"Should Borini get a run of games under his compatriot Paolo Di Canio at the Stadium of Light, then he will score goals. He has an instinct for them, which in the past has led to comparisons with Pippo Inzaghi."

I can't understand this? Why would we dilute our striking options by loaning out Borini?? surely Moses is not seen as an out and out striker??
Obviously he was down the pecking order as far as starting places go, IMO he's as good as Aspas is? All it takes is another Luis ban or Sturridge injury and all of a sudden we are light up front...

Unless there is another signing on the way.......I hope so..

i think moses would be less wasteful in front of goal than borini.

he has more man strength too. leading the Israelites out of slavery in egypt, spending 40 years in the wilderness eating nothing but manna and getting the tabs from god [too big to swallow, so he binned them] builds character.

Borini was a wasteful signing - can't imagine we'll see him back at Liverpool

              You cant knock his movement

Hes been at 4 or 5 clubs in less than 3 years

Glad to see him being loaned out to a premier league team to get some experience under his belt. Hopefully he will come back full of confidence and with lots of experience.

Surprised WBA or Newcastle didn't try and get him on loan from us. He should be the main striker at Sunderland?

Bad move, reckon Sunderland are ****ed this season.

I am a little surprised simply because if we get an injury or two up front we will be light again.

Have we just done this to balance the books after the Moses loan?

Maybe, but a loan to a pl side is also ideal for him. He's never had a good run in our team and he wouldn't if he'd stayed. This way we can see whether he can be a pl striker without the risk of actually playing him.

Wonder if they have an option to buy though.

Brendan Rodgers believes Fabio Borini's season-long loan to Sunderland will prove beneficial to all concerned.

The Italian will spend the 2013-14 campaign with the Black Cats having agreed a temporary switch to the Stadium of Light.

Rodgers is confident Sunderland will provide Borini with an opportunity to show what he can do - and he'll be keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old.

The boss said: "It's just to get games. He had a stop-start season last year with his injuries and I just felt this year he needed to go and play football.

"With Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez, Iago Aspas and some of the other attacking players, that might have been limited.

"I have a real belief in Fabio - he is a talent and a wonderful technician, and we've seen that on occasions, but he needs to be playing regularly to demonstrate that talent.

"We had a host of clubs wanting to take him, but with Sunderland having the Italian connection there and being a big club where he can go and play, I'm sure he'll get the chance to shine and we'll look closely at his development this year."
