Except Keane didn't have technique, composure or game intelligence to start with. The running round like a lunatic was just his game.Originally posted by danperkins View PostYup some gems alright on EST. Keeps it fresh
I just meant IMO Borini is trying too hard to impress, just reminds me of Keane running around like a lunatic, trying so hard that things like technique and composure went right out the window.
He has alot to prove, lots of competition ahead of him too....it's going to be tough for him at LFC.
Still can't believe we threw 20 million at Robbie Keane. What were you thinking Rafa
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

To be fair, there were plenty of managers who saw a potential there. Hoodwinked I tells yer, hoodwinkedOriginally posted by Rowan View PostExcept Keane didn't have technique, composure or game intelligence to start with. The running round like a lunatic was just his game.

I think his official position in the pecking line is currently 23rd, 24th if you include AspasOriginally posted by Tee View PostWith all the players we are supposedly signing, he really is going to struggle to get into the team IMO. Credit to him though, couple of great goals for Italy.

I can see why we wanted him - the season before we were lacking in players who would react to second balls or making runs behind Torres when we got wide. For Spurs Keane was drifting back from where the main striker (usually Defoe) was to put in goals in a way that looked like exactly what we needed in that regard. In the end his lack of ability to change to work with Gerrard and Torres made this not work but I do think he was the right type of player and it is hard to know how those type of relationships will work on the pitch."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Mate that's just not true. And that's not an Irishman defending an Irishman as i've been criticising him for years. First off Keane was a disaster buy and was terrible at LFC, but he scored over 100 goals in the premier league alone & 59 goals at international level. Apart from Inter which was only 6 games, LFC is the only place where he has failed.Originally posted by Rowan View PostExcept Keane didn't have technique, composure or game intelligence to start with. He has been a good player throughout his career, i bitch about him playing for Ireland in recent years but his record is superb and a guy with that many goals has to have composure. He simply wasn't good enough for LFC, was trying to hard & looked like a headless chicken ala Borini.. but saying he had no technique & composure is untrue. Borini on the other hand doesn't have great technique.... the composure maybe there but we haven't seen it yet as he's on edge.
Speaking of Keane.. I know people that have trained & played with him back in the day... and they said he was an excellent player & had the best attitude they've seen out of any player. First on and last off kinda thing.
Anyways my original point was that even though i'm not a big fan of Borini.. he is trying too hard & is better than he is showing. Whether he will be good enough when he settles that remains to be seen... i hope so.Last edited by danperkins; 22-06-13, 02:10 PM.

Agree with a lot of that re: Keane..........just the wrong fit for us in the end, but credit to Rafa, he got rid very quick when its clearly wasn't gonna work."I will make the boys feel your support"
