I respect Rodgers for shipping him out like that. He could have saved face and tried to justify playing him, but he recognised he needed the loan move, and got it done. He obviously doesn't feel he's a complete lost cause though (as I do ). Someone like Houllier would never have admitted he got it wrong so easily.

Rodgers seems every bit as ruthless as Benitez when it comes to correcting his own mistakes. Well, he hasn't bombed any of his signings out after six months yet but I really like what I'm seeing from Brendan

Yep, a lot of similarities there.

Pinched from the Victor Moses quote of course. I chuckled anyway. Nice Shaggy edit

I was worried at first that Brendan was going to stick with Allen and Borini too long, but Henderson seems to continue his progress and is now picked over Allen, as well as he should. Seems Brendan's best quality, IMO, is adjusting and learning constantly.
              * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

He is in no way afraid to admit when he is wrong, and would never continually play an out of form player out of stubbornness. It's all about what is best from the team.

It is a good move. He should get playing time, so if he is a decent player then he should start showing it.

I do think it is likely we'll flog him next summer regardless but Sunderland should offer him a chance.

I get the impression he has been looking at the way Rafa and Mourinho operate over the summer. Not just the ruthlessness with players but the way we are shutting down games and controlling where we let other teams play seems very similar to their way of doing things.

Delighted Borini off on loan.. can only be a good thing for LFC & Borini's white pants. I agree with the above.. if a player isn't making the grade Rodgers does seem to be ruthless... for me that's very refreshing and about time at LFC. We've hung on to so many sub standard players which are just simply non productive wage drains.

Henderson has come on a bit , he got a kick up the arse since Rodgers was going to offload him to Fulham... technique was never a problem for Henderson just getting stuck in & getting involved in the game was major concern for me. Allen IMO won't be here next season... better players ahead of him.

Anyways... loving the no nonsense attitude.

yeah not too fussed on borini

it's a strange one, i wanted him to be good, he does seem to have a good reputation in italy, he looks like he could be good

but he just doesn't seem to produce anything when given chances, i know he's had a few injury problems which doesn't help, but he's not for shown even glimpses of becoming a regular first teamer - just looks lost and out of his depth.

Loan move to sunderland is ideal for us/him at the moment - if he's good enough, he'll get game time there, develop and come back a better player - if he doesn't step up there, then we just cut our losses.

what is very telling/worrying is that this will be his 5 club in as many seasons, hell of a lot for a 22 year old (again that musn't help) but it's almost as if clubs think "hmm, we can get that young promising italian striker in" - then the clubs get him in, have a look, and for whatever reason don't want him and he's moved on.

can't be easy and a do feel a bit for him (well as much as you could feel sorry for a millionaire footballer with a fit bird)

my predication - he'll play about 20 games and score about 6 for sunderland - and he'll be sold next summer for about £8m tops
i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Interesting to see how he does there. Couldn't see how he'd fit in here and called in June he'd be off before the season started.

I have my doubts he'll cut it at Sunderland either, but he has shown glimpses of his ability (in Euro's and recent u-21's) so hopefully all he needs is a run of games.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

i wonder if sunderland will actually be doing that much attacking and if he will get enough chances to shine.

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

                              he'll never come back, imo.

I think last season we played far too open at times and were very vulnerable on the counter - this was particularly disappointing against Swansea, Villa and West Brom as they seemed to be able to slice us open at will. Hopefully the last few games where we've been much more cautious in the second half of games (and protecting a lead) is Brendan trying to correct this (rather than us just playing badly).

I think its gone the other way a bit and we've been too cautious - better teams could have punished us. Also, we haven't looked dangerous enough with our own counter attacks when defending a lead but hopefully as the team starts to click we'll find the right balance.
