Everytime I've had to go to watch the Mackems this year he's been far and away their best player. They're utter ****e though. To do as well as he has playing with that muck is a small miracle. He'll do well for us next year I think (if we keep him).A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

And where are you going to find someone like that willing to sit on the bench for 95% of the season?Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostI'm not a scout
I'd want a signing with enough talent to worry the other two. Spend a decent chunk of our budget on him. A real up and coming talent who'd keep the other two on their toes. It's unhealthy in the long run for them not to be challenged. Let's be honest Borini and Aspas are worrying no one.

You're all so negative huh.Originally posted by fah-q View PostAnd where are you going to find someone like that willing to sit on the bench for 95% of the season?
Let's just settle for Borini. Not because he's good enough, but because he's already here. Great reason that. Would any of you be calling for us to sign him now if he wasn't our player?
Not one of you.
I think it's possible. We're an attractive proposition now don't forget! Whoever it is will still get plenty of opportunities. They'll have to have enough self belief to believe they can make those opportunities count.
I think it needs to be a versatile forward capable of playing anywhere in the front line, but able to play through the middle when called upon.

I don't think it is harsh. The goals disguised what was a poor tournament for him and I said so at the time, so I'm not rewriting history to suit my argument now.Originally posted by Chris View PostSlightly harsh, started 3 games, scored a brilliant goal to get them in to the final and scored a stunner in the final.
I had high hopes of him going into this tournament and was really looking forward to it, but he was shocking that first game and was dropped, which explains why he only started 3 games. As one of the older players in the tournament I was expecting a lot more from him, but again was left unimpressed. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A versatile forwad who can play on the wing would get plenty of games as a genuine first team wide player and cover for the often injured Sturridge.Originally posted by fah-q View PostNot being negative but I can't see that many people with the qualities you describe not wanting regular football week in week out. Esp strikers who rely on a run of games to find their form normally.
Who that player is, I don't know, but he wouldn't have to be signed to be a bench player..If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I actually think he'd be decent enough in a front two with either Sturridge or Suarez. I just don't think he'd get enough games there though and wouldn't want him starting as a wide player or be relying on him coming off the bench to change a game, so that's not enough reason to keep him for me.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostNever in a million years would he ever displace Sturridge. That's a harsh criticism though as as only a handful of player would!
My main issue is would I trust him to start a run of games if we suffered with injuries and suspensions? No. I think our results would suffer.
I realise I'm being ambitious (or unrealistic as Shaggy put it), but I think we should be aiming higher now if at all possible. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Man City can pay the 16 top class strikers they have £200k pw to not even make the bench
Neither of those scenarios apply to us
I don't believe that getting into the CL or even winning the league once will allow for us to sign a player capable of challenging Suarez or Sturridge; unless he thinks that he has a genuine chance of displacing either. Which is blatantly not going to happen
With that in mind, we're looking for someone on the tier below us looking to make a step up or a player that's fallen out of favour for whatever reason and therefore doesn't expect to walk into the side
And nope. No idea who
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
