He cost us £11m and we should be asking for more than that after his successful loan spell last season.

We could try our luck asking for a bit more, but to be honest I would take £10m for him if we can find another player to play one of the attacking roles for that price (as well as Lambert)The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Sorry I don't agree with that at all. Just because we are the richer club we should allow our players to go for less that what we value him at? Shouldn't matter if he is 4th choice or not. Do you think Chelsea will let lukaku go for less than what they paid? He's been on loan to lesser clubs the past two seasons

When did Fabio Borini, 23 years old and having scored eight goals in 45 PL appearances, become 21 year old, 32 goals in 76 PL appearances Romelu Lukaku? Or when did we become Chelsea, for that matter, able to sell off unwanted assets for ridiculous fees thanks to years of financial doping?
My point is that context matters. I don't want to sell Borini for less than we bought him for either, and I suspect we won't. (I don't think anyone's said we should sell at less than our valuation, either, by the way - why would we? If we value him at £10m and no one offers that, we're better off with him and will just keep him. But valuations can rightfully differ between clubs.) People keep acting like transfer value is something inherent to players when in reality, it's decided by the player's talent but also how he fits into the two clubs, the two clubs' respective positions, and broader market conditions. That stuff can't just be ignored.
