Sunderland to bid £8m to bring Fabio Borini back to Wearside from Liverpool

Fabio Borini is the subject of an £8million bid from Sunderland as they attempt to lure back last season’s loan star to Wearside.
The Liverpool striker spent the entirety of the last campaign at the Stadium of Light and became a favourite after netting crucial goals in their fight against Premier League relegation.
Gus Poyet’s side eventually steered their way clear of danger, thanks in part to the Italian’s contribution up front alongside Connor Wickham.
And they want the 23-year-old to spearhead their attack when the new term starts next month.
That is made a slightly more realistic prospect given Brendan Rodgers’ summer courting of other forwards – notably Alexis Sanchez and the young Belgian Divick Origi – as the Reds brace themselves for the departure of Luis Suarez.
Borini has become a top target for Poyet after scoring in both Tyne-Wear derbies and putting them ahead against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final. He was also was voted Sunderland’s young player of the year.
The player’s agent Marco De Marchi said earlier this month: ‘I would not be surprised if there were other clubs who want him, because I consider him a complete striker.
‘But for the moment, all I can say with certainty is that Fabio has returned to Liverpool to stay.’
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
He has much better chance of playing regular football with Sunderland than with us, which for him at this point in his career is all that really matters.
If Sunderland come close or even better match what we paid for him imo he'll be sold.
He has to leave, he's not going to get games for us and he's rubbish when he isn't playing. Being third or fourth choice striker doesn't work for Borini. I think we should be looking to get a few million more for him if we can.
£8m is too low, I reckon we should be looking towards £15m.
They spent 9 million on Craig Gordon. The least they can do is give us £13 mill for Borini. Mackem cunts
A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.
That's a load of money for a reserve team player. We've overpaid for him so should cut our losses. He's not good enough OR needs to improve massively.
He's a decent mid-table Premiership striker who happened to play an instrumental role in Sunderland staying up last season. I think £10-12m would be a fair price.
I'd normally say sell at £10m but really with Suarez going I think we need to be careful. I don't think we'll sell him unless we get a really good offer in.
We should keep him this season and see what he can really do. He played for a team who were at one time relegation favourites to go down. He scored plenty of goals whilst he was there, which in turn kept them up.
He has had a full season in the PL. He now knows what it is all about. The standard of players and the service he will be getting is far superior to what he had at Sunderland. In addition to this he has game intellegence and a great engine

Two words: Ross McCormack
Borini might not be a first choice striker for LFC but he would be for a lot of Premiership teams and his 10 league goals a season would potentially be the difference between mid-table and relegation struggle.
I'm not saying we shouldn't accept anything less than £15m but you look at what he achieved last year, his age, his International pedigree and "cutting our loses" is pretty nonsensical. Plus the market is inflated, we need to benefit from it where we can.
