I'm not so sure about that. Can't access the stats from work, but IIRC he'd only scored a couple in open play before the end of the season when he then scored a few after they were more or less safe.Originally posted by Assassin View PostWe should keep him this season and see what he can really do. He played for a team who were at one time relegation favourites to go down. He scored plenty of goals whilst he was there, which in turn kept them up.
He has had a full season in the PL. He now knows what it is all about. The standard of players and the service he will be getting is far superior to what he had at Sunderland. In addition to this he has game intellegence and a great engine
We need better IMO, especially now Suarez is gone.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A lot of his goals were penalties, but Sunderland fans love him and I'm really pleased that he did well there. In fairness he played out of position early on and he was in a struggling team.
However, as a couple of people on this site have previously mentioned, if he was a Sunderland player and not a Liverpool player then would we be be saying 'sign him up' on here? I doubt it. He'll do well at a mid-table PL team but I can't see him doing it here. He needs a run of games in the centre to get the best out of him and if Sturridge and Lambert are fit then Borini won't get a sniff.

Not sure I can see Lambert starting ahead of Borini as Borini is more similar to Sturridge, unless it's a tactical change. I can't see Lambert starting that many games and sort of expect him to be an impact sub or something. Mind you, I don't know that much about Lambo so just have him down as a target man of sorts which a good enough touch.Originally posted by Lee View Post

I wouldn’t be that disappointed if he was still here on August 16th, but I don’t rate him that highly as a wide man and not sure he’s suited as a lone front man either. I think he could work quite well as part of a front 2, but I’m not sure he’ll get that many opportunities which is why I’d cash in at anything above £8m.Originally posted by Lee View Post

I do like him though and hope he does well whether he stays here or moves elsewhere. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Don't see Borini as similar to Sturridge at all personally, in what way?
Lambert isn't really a target man either, he is strong in the air but most of his best work last year was on the deck often dropping deep according to an article posted on here earlier. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Fair enough - I was basing it purely on physique tbhOriginally posted by RedReet View PostLambert definitely ahead of Borini IMO.

Aye, was a bit surprised with the Lambert stats myself. Can't find the article I was referring to about his performace last year, but this article from Shaggy shows that's always been his style.Originally posted by ronanm View PostFair enough - I was basing it purely on physique tbh

A big yes. Lacazette started off as a winger and, if I'm not mistaken, has played as the lone striker in the recent season.Originally posted by cream View PostTake £10m and spend it on Lacazette.
He ticks all the boxes: Rapid, skillful, versatile, gets goals, defends from the front.
Since it's impossible to replace Suarez anyway, we may as well focus on defense with the Suarez money, i.e. seriously upgrading the centrebacks and fullbacks. While aiming to get more goals from the other players.
Basically scoring fewer but conceding fewer to win games.I wear my heart on my profile name.
