If someone doesn't rate a player and can give valid reasons why they don't rate a player.... they shouldn't basically be told to shut up.. which is pretty much what you are saying.

What ever happened to each to their own?
Not what I'm saying at all. At a push, he's probably making the point on every other page of this thread

Would be fantastic and would gladly eat humble pie if Allen became a big success.

Just because you do't rate a LFC player, doesn't mean you don't want them to do well. I highly doubt any real LFC supporter would rather a LFC signing did ****, just to say they were right.

IMO my opinion a bit of both.

Come on mate that's a bit bit of an exaggeration. And this is the Joe Allen thread. We went from a conversation about aggression in small players, to somehow making player ability comparisons between Mascherano and Joe Allen.

Exactly, but lets not see everything through rose tinted spectacles either. The lad has been very poor for a while now, so we need to at least acknowledge that and question if that £15m could have been invested more prudently.

The pattern of overpaying for overrated British players continues. And I effing hate that policy.

I know his value is a different debate. Bit I honestly think over the course of his time with us it will prove to be. Certainly better value than someone like Charlie Adam.

What do you think is an adequate number of games in which to judge a player? Just intrigued. Yes he's been poor of late but in first couple of months of the season he played pretty well.

Last season, in Swansea's first season in the Prem, he was quite a stand-out performer and quite highly praised by quite a few 'experts'

Yes he has been poor but he hasn't been as poor as some people make it out. For example last week, he played better after Lucas was substituted. So either it's a tactical issue we have which is hampering his form or it's down to some other players not performing to the best of abilities.

As have been said numerous times, it's a team in transition where consistency will be difficult to achieve during its first season. Maybe it's something to do with that?

I think you're over analysing things. What, 22 pages discussing Allen and his small stature, or lack of ability'?
                  Are we winning?

FFS, it's the same with Rodgers. Same ****ing knee jerking all the ****ing time we lose a game.
The thing is Nigey its not just a "few bad performances"

His poor performances far out-weigh his good performances

As for Rodgers its not kneejerk, I've not seen anyone calling for his head, just questioning his signings and tactics so far

                    Nowt wrong with that

Just as a side point. He is currently sitting 3rd in Morse's Player of the Season game. Thats always a good indicator of how well he has been going over the season.

Our 3rd best player behind Suarez and Sterling.

He has been in the top 3 for 8 games. Not bad if you ask me.

Lecter, if you accept that we are doing something right when we win, why can't people still accept the same when we lose? If we'd been losing 4 or 5 games on the trot then that would have been a case to argue about, but what I see is a very inconsistent team which is still being built and put together.

Allen has got plenty of good attributes. I just think that people are nit picking what they see fit and don't like in his game. It's been done time and again with Gerrard.

nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. And rightly so we are all skeptical over our transfer policy and rightly so!

Exactly, some people tend really over react on here when you question a player, who swear you've threatened to kill his family or something

He was poor before Lucas returned and hes been poor after Lucas returned

Yes it is a team in transition I accept that but maybe Allen is only a stepping stone from going from A-B and not part of the whole grand plan that leads to Z

IMO we look a much better and more balanced side with Henderson in than Allen

Whether thats down to stature, ability, aggression or chemistry I neither know nor care

About 22 games in should give you a pretty decent idea of a player. Especially considering he has already had a season (supposedly a very good season according to the 'experts') in this league. And in the first couple of months he was nice and tidy but I think we went way overboard on how good he was, much like we have been with young Raheem.

Or form? I bet that the Henderson of earlier this season wouldn't have had as much an impact.
