IMO there is not a chance of him going back to Madrid, Sahin is 23 and usually once a player that ain't a kid is sent out on loan.... it's with a view to selling him. There is no shame in not being able to get into a side when you're competing for a place with Alonso & Modric.

I really hope this guy hits it off and settles at the club. This deal could be a master stroke.

Xabi is not getting any younger and he may or may not be Mourinho's first choice next year.

That and who Mourinho sees in that position other than Xabi may decide what happens to Sahin.

There is always a possibility that he won't like his stay at Liverpool and force the comeback in hopes of perhaps going back to Borussia or any other club.

Bottom line is it is way too early to even get in those discussions.

Let's see if he can fit in first and then we will cross that bridge when and if we get there.

Nuri Sahin wants to help Liverpool secure Champions League spot

Nuri Sahin says Liverpool can finish in the top four this season and has not ruled out making his loan move from Real Madrid permanent.

The Turkish midfielder, 23, who had also been linked with Arsenal this summer, joined Brendan Rodgers's side on a season-long loan on Saturday.

Asked whether the move could be made permanent, he said: "You never know.

"I am looking forward to playing this season and we will do everything to get into the top four."
        Nuri Sahin fast fact

Sahin was voted the best player in the Bundesliga in a poll by Kicker magazine after helping Dortmund to the German league title in 2010-11.

Sahin joined Real Madrid from Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund last summer but an injury in September hampered his ability to make an impression on Jose Mourinho's side and he made just 11 appearances as they won La Liga last season.

He completed a full pre-season at Real without problems, but accepted he would need to move away from the Bernabeu in order to play regularly.

Sahin says he spoke to Real team-mate Xabi Alonso, who played for Liverpool between 2004 and 2009, and the Spain international recommended a move to Anfield.

"I didn't play so many games so it was important for me to come to a club where I have the chance to play at a high level and Liverpool is the best club for me right now," added Sahin.

"Xabi said good things. He played a long time for Liverpool and and he is still in love with the club."

Sahin watched as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday.

"Watching the game against Manchester City you can see the style of the team is very good," he said.

"What people told me about Liverpool is what I see now. They are a very big football club with a huge history and I think I have made the right choice."
        Oh I don't know.

We're in a much better position to a/ buy Sahin if Real are open the idea, or b/ buy a top quality replacement.

The Sahin loan deal is win-win for us, it really is. Let's just enjoy his talent shall we?

will he stay... he says "you never know"

if the door opens at back at madrid he will go back. maybe modric will be ****, maybe someone else needs to be replaced.

lets just hope we get all we can from him, and maybe he'll enjoy his time here.

can't lose with this, really exciting deal IMO and you have to say well done to those involved getting him here.

With Xabi not renewing his contract with Real. I can see him coming back in 12 months time for a knock down fee.

Sahin sounds very non committal on the issue of joining us permanently, he obviously flirted with Arsenal, whereas Mourinho sees him as the long term successor to Xabi.

Lets hope he has a stonking season, falls in love with the club and Ayres has negotiated a buy clause.
It depends where we finish. If Sahin plays an integral role in getting us back into the CL then we will have made significant progress - even if he ****s off at the end of the loan period.

and another important thing to consider...
if the likes of shelvey, suso, sterling, etc are training and playing with this guy in the team then surely it will add something to their experience of confidence for the future.
other great young players will see how their game can improve at Liverpool and we might pick up future loan signings, or even a permanent deal or two,

Let's just enjoy him while we've got him & hope he likes the experience enough to want to stay.

                          This.

The rest will take care of itself. Make the CL and we will attract players of the top calibre again. If not, we can always insert a buy back clause for wee Jay.

NURI SAHIN has his sights set on a Liverpool FC debut against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday as the Turkish midfielder refused to be drawn on his long-term future.

The 23-year-old joined the Reds on a season-long loan move from Real Madrid last week and was in the stands to watch their 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

Sahin isn’t eligible for tomorrow’s home Europa League play-off second leg against Hearts but is expected to take his bow for Brendan Rodgers’ side against the Gunners.

“I’ve trained for three days with the team and everything is going well,” he said.

“I had a pre-season with Real Madrid and I’m ready to play.

“I’ve settled in really well and I hope it will be the same on the pitch.

“The style I play is the same as the manager wants to play here so I hope to have a great season.”

The former Borussia Dortmund star was expected to join Arsenal but the deal collapsed and Liverpool capitalised.

Sahin, who cost the Reds around 2 million euros (£1.6million) in a loan fee to Madrid, has no regrets.

“Everything people told me about Liverpool is there, it’s what I see now,” said Sahin.

“It is a very big club with a huge history and I think I have made the right choice. The project with Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers is the best for my situation I think–- that is why I am here.”

Sahin is unlikely to remain at Anfield beyond next May as Madrid still see him as part of their long term plans. However, if the Spanish giants do decide to sell him Liverpool will have first refusal to buy him. Asked about the prospect of staying with the Reds on a permanent basis, Sahin said: “In football you never know.

“I am here for this season and then you never know what will be happening in a few months.

“I am looking forward to playing this year here and after that we will see. I cannot speak beyond this season.”

Sahin is relishing the prospect of playing regularly after a frustrating first year at Madrid following his move from Dortmund, adding: “This is very important for me after the injury I got last year.

“We became champions at Real Madrid, but I didn’t play so many games, so for me it was important to come to a club where I had the chance to play at the highest level.

“I think in this case Liverpool is the best club for me right now.”

The Germany-born Turkey international was impressed by what he saw in Liverpool’s game against Manchester City and wants to help the Reds achieve a top four finish this season.

“If you watch the game against Manchester City, you see that the style the team is playing is very good and of course, Liverpool has to play in the Champions League,” Sahin said.

“A big club like Liverpool has to play every year in the Champions League and we will do everything to get in the top four. Also there is the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League, and we can do some good things.”

I hope so because with the 'special relationship' Tottenham have set up with Madrid I thought they were going a different route of getting our targets.
