If you were a Liverpool fan and a Liverpool player, you'd fight tooth and nail if you thought there was a chance. Got to respect him for that - at least he won't look back on his career and wonder what might have happened if he had made more of an effort or hadn't stuck at it so doggedly.

But yeah, he isn't LFC standard.

And he's hardly going to come out and say that he knows he's not good enough but he'll wait to see what offers he gets in January or in the summer.

It's still infuriating that we didn't get £3m for him though last week.

I think he'll have a decent career somewhere. Doubt it will be with us. Can't help feeling that he suffered from not have a settled position when young. Doesn't seem to have the instincts to have made the most of his more generalized education.

I think he's as good as a lot of players in the bottom half of the league. Not sure how or whether he'll develop but there is some dross in the PL at the minute.

Yes there is some dross and they shouldnt be in the PL niether. I think Jay will always struggle to be top flight, but that is not through lack of trying

I don't think the PL is that strong a league any more/at the minute.
