for me he is a very good player - and could save us a bit of cash in the transfer market. I think if Wisdom had backed himself a bit more and rejected the loan move to either Derby or WBA, then he would possibly have been a regular by now. That is what Flanagan did and he became an important team player.

The thing with Wisdom is that he should be a right back for us but you could also see him being on the right hand side of a 3 man defense - so his versatility will certainly be useful if we persist with a manager that likes to change his formation four or five times a season.

I'd give him a go along side Sakho in the centre with the caveat of playing a dedicated defensive midfielder.

        Hopefully that happens in pre-season.

I like the idea of at least giving this a go.

This lad could be our Paul Parker.

Was he given an opportunity at centre back for west Brom?

Nope, like Martian Kelly he has never played as a CB at senior level.

CB was definitely alien to him

Liverpool defender set to join Norwich on loan
Newly-promoted Norwich have agreed a loan deal for Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom.

The 22-year-old, who signed a new five-year contract with the Reds in May, is likely to complete the move in the next couple of days.

The Canaries will pay a loan fee of £1.25million for the England Under-21 defender, who can operate as a full-back or in the centre.

Wisdom spent last season on loan at West Brom, having previously impressed in the Sky Bet Championship for Derby in a temporary spell the previous campaign.

I am quite surprised by this to be honest I thought given that he has had a decent amount of experience over the last couple of years he might get some games, at least as cover at RB.

Also interesting that they are willing to pay £1.25M to take him on loan for a year. I guess given that he has signed a 5 year contract not long ago we must have fairly high hopes for him once he has more PL experience. If that is the case I guess it's better for him to get PL game time with Norwich than sit on our bench.

No surprise at all, he was clearly way down the pecking order. Another decent player who won't quite make it here.

In terms of CB he is clearly down the pecking order, but he can play RB which is a position where we lack cover at present. Beyond Clyne (and Flanagan who is out for a while) we have an number of players who have played there (Can, Toure, Henderson) but none are really serious options for more than the odd game. IMO Wisdom would have been a better option than that.

Not so sure, he's signed up until 2019 so another season playing regularly might just give him the experience to really challenge for a first team spot with us.
