The thing is if we want to be in the CL our players will need experience of playing in Europe, they will need to get used to the travelling and playing multiple games a week, hopefully they can gain that experience later in the season, having played the youngsters / fringe players in the group stages. I guess what we actually do will depend on the draw and the circumstances in the league at the time the games come around.

Hope to see him play tonight in Adelaide after no show in Bne.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Did not play again, which is shame as thought he had pretty good 45 minutes vs Thai All Star.

Was he even on the bench? Couldn't say I saw him from where I was sat.

He was one of the named subs but he was not featured.

Strange as he took part in the "open to public" training session few days before and he looked just fine.

Need to loan him out to a team like Bournemouth or Norwich. Celtic would be a good team for him at this stage too

Definitely needs another loan, he won't get a look in this season at LFC. Best for all concerned IMO.

As I said, it's a shame, but he's never going to make it here. Another Suso.

I'm pretty sure he trained at Adelaide oval straight after the match with both the used & unused subs too.

He's shown so much more than Suso both at the club and on loan. Suso was pretty ineffective at Almeria. With all the cup and Europa games he should be going nowhere until at least January (when we may or may not be out of said cups).

Ach, come on. He's shown 'so much more'? FFS.

Suso was absolutely phenomenal for our reserve/youth teams, he stood out a hell of a lot more than Tex ever did. Suso also made over 20 appearance compared to Tex's one, even if it was a decent wee cameo. Yes, Tex looked good in that pre-season match, but Suso looked just as good in a match last year when he came on and scored.

And people are also far too critical of his time at Almeiria. Yes, it was hardly a resounding success, but he started the season extremely well before it all went tits up at Christmas. Even at that, 3 goals and 7 assists in 26 starts is hardly a disaster and certainly compared to 6 goals and 3 assists in 27 starts in a much inferior league is hardly a poor record.

I like Tex, always have and hope he makes it here, but I have to say I'm finding this recent OTT support a wee bit baffling (not aimed at you, but in general recently).

At Brighton last year he was by far there best player according to a colleague at work who 'goes the game'......
Kept giving glowing references of his performances saying he was too good for the team as his thought process was two or three stages ahead of the other players. He got frustrated and tried to do to much on occasions because of this.

                          Just saying....

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure the end result will be the same.

He needs to have a season on loan in the PL to come close to challenging for a place in the side. As talented as he seems, realistically Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana would all likely be picked ahead of him in his prefered role. IMO he would have to put in a few phenomenal cup games and/or there be a couple of injuries to get a look in in the PL for us. This is the down side of having a big squad.

You are right, this is exactly why big squads and big squads of quality are bad for the game imo. Fowler or Owen breaking through at 17 these days? It's unlikely. I also think because of the wages paid and players attitudes, its harder to drop a non performing player from the squad to make way for a youngster. If tex came in and was fantastic in a game, he should have like in the old days, a chance to stake his claim for a place. But it doesn't happen, at best after a Europa or cup game he would make the 7 man bench and then be lucky to get a 5 minute cameo before disappearing altogether. With the pressure that Rodgers is under, there's no way he will go with youth over established right now. Not with the squad we have assembled. Ibe is lucky he has pace and isn't a number 10. We are so overloaded centrally, it leaves no room for a tex to come in.
