Can't say I'd be particularly disappointed if this doesn't happen.

Not really.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostFFS. We should not be in this position. Another transfer calamity during the Kenny/Comolli era.
Ince wanted to play football, Kenny couldn't guarantee him playing time, he left. Rodgers comes in, identifies him as a player he would like, so we go for him. Blackpool want what is best for them and negotiations begin.
Whilst it's frustrating, there is no 'calamity' ... it's football.
EDIT: LDH and Nigey are all over it.

i didn't say big wages. i said first team wages. as in not a reserve player wages. but he was so reserve player because he wasn't yet good enough for our first team. otherwise he'd have agreed to the deals that were offered. he wanted first team football. he left to get it. fine.Originally posted by kingfunk View PostDon't be daft. If BR was the manager then he would not have left. He should have gone on loan if he was going anywhere. And where is the evidence he wanted big wages?dave of mutilation

So many conflicting reports, it's hard to pick the bull**** from the real news.
But if it's true that Blackpool want £6M AFTER the 35% deduction that we're eligible - that would mean bidding between £8-9M for him. He isn't worth that at all and so I'd rather we stepped back and try again in the summer than overpay yet again. Rodgers clearly isn't going to be ripped off.
Or, why not offer the £6M that we're prepared to pay but tell Blackpool he can be loaned back to them for the rest of the season? We get the deal, they then have another 5-6 months with the player and money coming in to replace him is guarenteed. Smart.

I think we're playing this one correctly to be honest. As other have been saying, BR has his valuation and is sticking to it. Oyston can do or say whatever he wants. If he doesnt sell for £6m gross (less our 35%), he'll have a pissed off player and get nothing in the summer. It seems to me like we're playing our hand well here.
For the first time in fecking forever.

How do you know that? Then, it's not as is Blackpool are going to force Ince into signing anything.Originally posted by Captain Stu View PostHe won't leave for nothing in the summer, Blackpool alone (ie, Ince has no say in the matter) have activated - or intend to activate - the extra year in his contract. It would be interesting to know what needs to be done to activate the additional year. i wonder can Blackpool do it themselves or does the player need to agree too? I would imagine the player would have some say. it would be odd for them to have the ability to do so without agreement all round.Originally posted by Captain Stu View PostHe won't leave for nothing in the summer, Blackpool alone (ie, Ince has no say in the matter) have activated - or intend to activate - the extra year in his contract. It's been mentioned by dozens of sources, including several that are known to be "good" sources for Liverpool information. Seriously it's been reported loads.Originally posted by Nigey View PostHow do you know that? Then, it's not as is Blackpool are going to force Ince into signing anything.
Supposedly it's up to them - they had the same clause in Adam's contract which bumped his price up.Originally posted by bonzai View PostIt would be interesting to know what needs to be done to activate the additional year. i wonder can Blackpool do it themselves or does the player need to agree too? I would rather the money gets used to buy another DM or something anyway. We have tons of 'prospects' at the club now. We are not desperate for more. Would be nice if he came back, but I hardly see it as crucial. I guess thats the reason we are ready to walk away and not be held to ransom.
Also, why are people still criticising Oysten for getting as much money as he can out of us? Every responsible owner gets the best value he can. But some fans seem to be upset because he is holding us up for a few million more. How dare he do such a thing to us. Ignoring him as a person, he is doing a good job as owner there.*Except Michael, who died.

another "good" player but nothing more. he's english and he's decent therefore he's overpriced and overrated.
he left even after we offered him the highest wages to a youth / reserve player in the country because daddy paul told him he could be playing more regular first team elsewhere and fair do's he's come on leaps and bounds with blackpool and turned into a good wee player. but i dont care if we fail to lure him back as at present id rather have suarez, borini, downing, sterling, suso and sturridge in the side seeing as theyre all better players.
keep the money (we can get him on lowered compensation set by the FA in the summer - prob around the 3m mark rumoured) and spend it on what we can. i'm sure for 6-8m this window we can buy a better player.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

I think if the club holds the option they don't need the players consent. Sure that is how the mancs managed to get a fee for Berbatov and Blackpool did that with Chuckie Adam about a week before selling him to us.Originally posted by Nigey View PostHow do you know that? **** innitA lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

Paul Ince tells son Thomas to reject Liverpool
The former England International has revealed that the 20-year-old winger would be wise to turn down an offer from his former club and stay in the Championship where he can develop
Goal.com exclusively revealed last weekend that Brendan Rodgers' side are close to securing a deal for the 20-year-old but the former England international believes his son would benefit from staying at Bloomfield Road.
"There's been a lot of press saying he's going to Liverpool. I've not at one time said he's going to Liverpool," the 45-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"Thomas has at not one time said he wants to leave Blackpool Football Club. I just feel that he's ready for the Premiership, whether that means he's going to go in January or that means he's going to go at the end of the season or the season after, who knows?
"I think he's ready to go and play in the Premiership, but there's no point in Thomas going to a Premiership club and not playing football, because that will just stunt his development.
"Where he goes, he has to have the chance to be involved and getting game time.
"If you said Liverpool, or Man United or Barcelona, there's no point in him going to those clubs if he's not playing football. For me, he might as well stay at Blackpool and keep playing week in and week out."
