I'd love to have Sneijder here. A specialist No.10 who can play in a 4-3-3. My ONLY concern is how this would impact on Rodgers' plans to bring in a No.10 in the summer. Would FSG fork out on Sneijder and still sanction the transfer of another player in a similar mould because of the calibre of Sneijder? I'd like to think they would, but I'd understand if they wouldn't.

Well he's played 5 games this season - 1 goal and 1 assist - and hasn't played since September. Sure his form was bad for a year before that but it happens. At just 28, and with all the ability he has, it's too intriguing for me to not be interested.

It's a tough one... he has been off form for awhile (not 18 months) and IMO has just stayed in Serie A for far too long, but well all know that he can regain his best form... you potentially have a world class footballer on your hands. His wages are ridiculous and i suppose you'll see what his intentions really are, if he is willing to reduce them drastically to play football.

His agent seems to be whoring his name around a bit, at 28, with the money he has already earned in the game & with the ability we all know he has.... it would be a real shame for a player like him to drift into obscurity going to the Turkish league etc

Funny one this, he could be brilliant but he could be bog average for us if he came in, I think if we want to take a short cut into getting into the top 4 a "risky" signing is probably needed.

That would only be applicable if he was a free transfer surely? Rumoured to be costing £10m so any severance/sweetener that Inter need to make up is to donwith them and the player

Sorry guys but there's absolutely no chance of us signing him. He's leaving Inter because they want him to cut his £150k per week wages. With the amount of tax he would pay over here there is no way our owners will give him the salary he wants. Not gonna happen

But maybe he his beef with them is that they are trying to go back on a contract that's been signed sealed and delivered long ago, and used strong arm tactics to try and make him do this.

He may be more affable to a different clubs demands, and imo he must be, because Gala are never paying him what he earns now.

I wouldn't touch Wesley Sneijder with a barge pole. I think he is a talented player as everyone would agree, however he has been poor for the best part of 18 months now. I think it's pretty clear he is money orientated and is looking for his last big pay check. There is a reason Utd stayed clear of him last summer. I think given his injury problems, lack of form and lets not forget his wage demands would represent a massive gamble. I can't help but feel a year or two down the line we'll be desparetely talking about getting him off our wage bill.

Exactly mate, no idea where this 18 months has came from.. 1 person started it now everyone seems to be on the bandwagon.

He's been ****ed around by Inter and injured which may result in his performances not being top notch. Also seeing "at his age" being banded about a lot as well, he's 28 ffs! In his prime!

Give him a platform to play on and he's still up there with the best.. I find it incredible people would pass on him and settle for Allen/Henderson/Shelvey in his role instead. Lets face it Gerrard will not be playing that role simple as that.

He'd lift the club, there would be a massive buzz around the place, possibly attract other players that would otherwise be unsure and probably help keep foreign fans involved.

Joe Cole was never as good as Sneijder so that comparison is ridiculous. As long as we're clever about it 3 years no more 90k a week we'd be fine.

We are in no position to be turning away talent like Sneijder ****ing Hell we only had Adam 5 months ago.

Have you really watched him over the past 18 months?

As Shaggy said, 5 games this year so calling him **** is a bit harsh based on just 5 games in a time Inter are obviously messing him around. Also 1 goal and 1 assist in that time so not exactly Stewart Downing! Oh and 1 of those games he played as a striker, hardly surprising he wasn't anywhere to be seen in that game.

In fact for 3 of those games he played well, only consider Chievo and Torino to have been bellow par performances from him. (IIRC)

Before this season he was excellent during the Euro's in a team that were all over the place, virtually every other player being awful.

I'd take him. He's only 28 FFS. Sure he's had a bad time but that happens all the time. Who could honestly say they wouldn't be extremely excited to see Suarez, Sneijder and Gerrard link up? It would be fascinating. We've freed a lot of room on the wage bill - astronomical sums thrown at **** like Cole and non-contributors like Sahin. Get him in if we can.

I can see the attraction but realistically apart from when he hooked up with Mourinho I think Sneijder has looked better than he is. His contribution rarely getting the most out of those around him, even when he personally looked good.

I also can't see how he fits into our style of play, unless at the expense of Gerrard.

Certainly on high wages I think this would be a disaster. Another mill stone round our neck in the style of Cole.
