    Monaco

What do people make of this lot? Taking the sugar daddy spending to a new level by the looks of it!

Moutinho and Rodriguez from Porto for €60m already sorted

Falcao due for a medical on Monday according to Sky for another €60m and its not even the end of May.

They've got it far too easy with their own little tax haven and for me its too much they should either under league regulations pay the same as others or not be allowed to compete.

How a team can come from the 2nd Division of probably the 5th league strongest league in Europe and sign arguably the worlds best striker is a bit of a joke IMO and we all know Platini will do nothing about it.

Didn't some Russia club offer Messi nearly £500k a week in the summer its crazy! Its now literally all about money and only money for the players willing to go there.

Linked with Nasri, Valdes, Tevez and more.

The fear is this will provoke PSG into spending more too. I don't find it at all exciting, its real life Football Manager and its like watching the death of football (over dramatic?)

Man City have done similar and of course Chelsea have a sugar daddy that took them over whEn they were not far from going bust it's the way of football these days and in all honesty if we had someone willing to do the same for us we'd not have a problem with it.

I'd definitely be uneasy if we had one these sugar daddy owners. The risk of them leaving us to go bust would always be there.

There was some talk about making Monaco conform to the same tax rules for footballers as the rest of the world but I can't remember where I read it. Anyone else remember seeing it a few months back?

That's true but the short term enjoyment you'd get from the high profile big signings would put that to the back of most people's minds.

Not saying I agree with it either tbh but if it happened a large proportion of fans would embrace it

yeah and if it all went tits up it would be the same fans that would call for the head of whoever sold the club to the 'cowboys' on a platter

The saddest part about it all is without one of these owners its looking borderline impossible for use to compete anytime soon. FFP isn't going to help and for a moment I almost believed it would benefit us.

I thought FFP was supposed to work against billionaire owners? Doesn't look like Monaco are taking much notice.

Heard a french journo talking about this.

Apparently some or all of the other French clubs had moaned about the advantage Monaco have regarding taxation.

But Platini's response, according to this French journo, was along the lines of......'It was ok before this new owner came in and took over, no one moaned then about Monaco having it easier than other clubs in the league, so this is all down to sour grapes/jealousy'.

ok. I thought it was others saying that Monaco should be given a year to two to conform or be kicked out of the French league.

With these guys and PSG spending + Lyon doing fairly well the French League could be a much more competitive league in a few years.

The man is a cunt, its not like they were using it to their advantage before now and he's just going to brush it under the carpet and move on.

EDIT: By that I mean it didn't exactly help them out a great deal, recently especially, they have only just been promoted to Ligue 1. The only clubs that would probably protest are those down there with them and they aren't going to be listened to at all even if they did pipe up.
