    Just another Mercenary.
Isn't he 3rd party owned though? So he just goes where he is told to go. I mean, from Porto, he could have gone somewhere better than Atletico Madrid I'd have imagined?

Even still its not comparable is it? Imagine if Lyon or PSG piped up back then for example. Imagine how embarrassing of an excuse that would have been considering the situation, they weren't benefiting massively over the rest of the league and were still behind the likes of Marseille, Lyon and PSG in terms of what the could make in revenue.

I'm not that clued up on the 3rd party ownership side of things but surely you couldn't make a player play somewhere against his will?

He could make a stand i guess, but not sure how far it would get him as someone else owns his rights

Yeah, someone explained it pretty well a week or so back, it's almost nigh on impossible for a club in England to afford him due to the rules about 3rd party ownership and the buying out of his contract.

Atletico would get very little from any potential sale of him no matter where he goes.

60m supposedly already spent on Moutinho and Rodriguez and Falcao will also cost that much by himself with Coentrao also mentioned as one of future signings.

Those are only transfer fees and that doesn't take wages taken into consideration, which would be massive.

Absolutely insane by the club that no proper fan base beyond Monaco region and their stadium only allows 18,000 capacity.

They should be UEFA poster boy for imposing FFP rules and it will be interesting to see if they will do that or not.
Well, they are not playing in European competition, so they don't fall under FFP rules.
              Oh I don't know.

Exactly, they only will when they make it to Europe. I guess they might have a shot this season coming, but even if they make it next year, it will only be counted in their final year of accounts.

Monaco need to grow, and grow rapidly, its the only way to get around the penalties. Even then the first few stages of penalty are reasonably pointless. So they have a little time to catch up.

What I don't understand about it all, is Atletico paid a reasonable sum to Porto for Falcao yet receive basically nothing when he moves on??

Its so bloody confusing, anyone have a better understanding than I do?

Another culling of employees or contractors?
