He's still chasing compo for his broken leg in the cup final, he doesn't like to talk about it though.

Good luck to him, unless he goes to Everton.

Maybe he's going to Stoke? I like Martinez, think he'd do well at a decent club. He'd be a good fit for Everton, but that's not likely to happen.

I know he's had them punching a bit above their weight but it seems a bit rum to me that he can lead a team to relegation, after years of just escaping the drop, and then just **** off as soon as they're down and take a bigger job.

Aye, hope he gets a decent job. Think he is a good manager. There are obviously some questions over his ability to manage a top level club, and his transfer record is not brilliant. But he was better than Wigan.

I fully expect Wigan to bounce around the Championship for a while now. He had them punching well above their weight for a couple of years.

Annoying that he's left with his reputation in tact, enhanced even, when he's just got Wigan relegated. How is he rated so highly by most? Can't say I get it really. Seems a nice guy though.

He did just win the FA cup. He gets great credit from me for that.

Quite funny cos a very mouthy, obsessed Bitter mate of mine was ALL OVER Martinez when it looked like he was getting our gig last year (pictured with JWH etc). "Hahaha he's ****e, flirts with relegation every year, you're getting another ****e manager" blah blah blah. He's very quiet now

Wigan played some great football, they just didn't have enough quality to sustain their Premiership survival. There will be different challenges at a better club, he deserves a chance to prove himself.

Of course he does, but he did it at the expense of their league campaign. They got relegated and may never make it back up again for all we know. They also had a ridiculously easy run to the final, then played a City team who weren't arsed and were trying to (successfully) get their manager the sack.

I'm not saying he's a terrible manager, he's been ok for Wigan, but I often see him listed as one of the most promising young managers in the game, and I see very little evidence of that personally.

@Ashmark81 It was last Thursday. And we would get compensation if he walked into a new job.

You'd imagine he'd take McManaman with him. He's a Bluenose after all.
