Thongs, one of the great Aussie phrases along with Smoko, Esky, Servo, Strewth and so many more. I spent a year there in 2000/2001 and I still remember the first time someone said to me I wasn't allowed to wear thongs to work!

- like many "Paddy's" I took advantage of the one year visa and was in Sydney when the Olympics were on. Australia is a great place - beautiful weather, great food but too far away and too many creatures that can kill/seriously main you!

I did 6 months in Sydney & 6 months travelling around the rest of Aus. Of those 6 months I did 3 one month stints on farms fruit picking, hard work but decent money for a back packer so I saw my fair share of snakes and red backs.

To be honest I not a big spider fan and the huntsmen used to freak me out!

I wouldn't complain if we gave him another season with us as his form has been alright of late.

Keeping him would mean we are standing still in developing that part of the squad. We have Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel, Toure, Ilori, Wisdom and Gomez with at least one reinforcement in the summer. Eight players for two slots!

+ Wisdom is not going to be good enough, so should go.
+ We can survive with one elder statesmen at most, so one of Toure or Skrtel has to go.
+ A decision needs to be taken over Ilori. I think there is something there, but it looks like the manger doesn't fancy him so he is off too.

That leaves five, which is probably the right number for the next season bearing in mind we do not know whether Gomez will make a full recovery and both Sakho and Lovren are a bit injury prone. Good balance of ages too.
