Nah. He seems to be indicating a player sale which is rubbish in my opinion. Your no.1 summer target can't be dependent on sales surely

What have we spent so far compared to sales ? £22m spent & £15m in?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I just find it difficult to fathom that we have spent months chasing this player but only on the basis that we sold Suarez. Not worth the hassle really is it?

            Transfer expenditure: £23,584,000
            Transfer income: £15,400,000
            Net spend: £8,184,000

Yes, we'll try and sell fringe players to boost the war-chest but I can't see the sale of Suarez holding up the Mkhitaryan deal. Especially when we could be generating £10m from Shelvey, Spearing and Ince taking us to spending naff all (technically).

Plus of course the £20m kitty we reportedly have.

Indeed - our transfer budget and Blackpool selling Ince alone could buy Mkhitaryan.

Nonsense to suggest we have to sell Suarez before buying him. Absolute nonsense.

                    You'd hope so anyway.

But as i'm sure we all suspect, it's more likely he's tweeted this as a get out clause on his info, should the deal not materialise, take longer than he suggested, or the player go elsewhere.

That's exactly what I was aluding to. We've spent next to nothing really & have several lads that will probably go & generate some funds so I can't see the Henry deal being the subject of Suarez going. Hope I'm not wrong.

I do wonder if our 20 million outlay last january has possibly eaten up some of our summer budget?
                        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Unless I'm missing something here, but I think its entirely possible this deal was dependant on suarez going. We're never going to spend big without a reasonable amount coming back. Nothing wrong with that, a sound way to operate. Although I could be wrong and we're signing all the players we're linked with. There's no rush to complete the deal anyway.

For me, this is the type of signing we need to be making even if Suarez leaving hadn't come up this summer and we knew for certain he was staying.

So for it to be dependant of him leaving, well, that would be a bit **** if true.. imo.

How did you get to that transfer income figure?

It's a valid point; in Rodgers' first year we spent £59,488,000 recouping just £9,196,000, giving us a net spend of £50,292,000 in 2012/13. But I think the Mkhitaryan deal is our transfer budget, the players we've bought are going to be self-financed by players going out and Suarez ... well, **** knows.
