That's true but the fact that we ended the summer with 4,000 centrebacks and neither a convincing pair of fullbacks or a midfield goalscorer suggests we could refine our recruitment strategy further.

The decline with Johnson I don't think could have been seen nor that we've had Enrique out for quite some time.

I'd agree with the midfield goal scorer but we clearly looked to get one in but failed to get who we wanted, I'd rather we didn't end up buying for the sake of it if we're unable to get our main targets in.

I think leftback was always a problem and Enrique wasn't that big a loss. Just that Cissokho wasn't the answer either. There was no backup for Johnson and it is one of the key positions to fill with the right type of player given our system.

I can understand the left back position and apparently we were looking but the RB slot we do have Johnson, Kelly and although he was being touted as being loaned Flanno so I don't think that was ever a priority in the summer and imo neither should it have been

Watched some of Dortmund's match v Hamburg at the w/e. He looked decidedly average, as indeed he did the last time I saw him.

Is this 2 uncharacteristic performances or have I missed lots of quality and only caught his poorest games?

I think he's quality - seen enough of him to feel confident about that - but Dortmund's bubble looks like it's burst for good and he's struggling in a side short on confidence.

I really hope he's still on our radar for the summer. They might want to cut their losses. It'd at least be worth looking into.

You can see the talent he has. He'd be ideal for us, but it's just not working out for him there yet.

Just double checked and he has 7 goals so far in 28 matches (via Wiki). That's still one in four from midfield. Not bad. I doubt they'd be keen to sell, but if it's at all possible I think we should be all over it.

Him and Konoplyanka to beef up our attacking options would be laughably immense.

Dortmund are really struggling with a ton of Injuries and players leaving for more money, at other clubs.

Its a shame, because they seemed like a really fun team.

They won't sell, they are looking to invest heavily in the summer, they have had a few injuries and are struggling a bit but it certainly is no crisis.

Yeah I'd be all over him. Dortmund are behind Leverkusen in the league and they're terrible so probably a few of their stars getting twitchy! They conceded a goal at the weekend from a free kick when they decided against a wall and the bloke smacked it home from just inside the Dortmund half! Beauty of a goal

Dortmund have had terrible injuries all season 3 of the back 4 missing most of the season plus 2 of the 3 centre mids
gundogan who the mancs been chasing has played 1 game, and a few more knocks plus losing gotze

Lewandowski is on his way out too, it will be interesting to see if they do put Aubameyang up front or buy a new striker and continue to play him on the left. They have definitely been absolutely hammered by injuries this season to ridiculous levels. I would be surprised if anyone other than Lewandowski left during the summer window.
