KK did ok. His 2nd place finish was very similar to our near miss, a hell of ride, but a meh end, and some saying he should have been more canny and won the title.

Just reading that Gutierrez after being at Newcaster for 7 years including coming back from cancer whilst he was at the club, and then scoring a goal that helped the club stay up last season, was told he would not be getting a new contract courtesy of a telephone call.

              Modifying post.

That's hugely disrespectful. Newcastle FC have a ****ty work culture.

And it was not even a telephone call directly to him. Gutierrez and Ryan Taylor were doing a coaching class in Glasgow when Taylor got a call from Carver and got told his contract was not renewed. Apparently Carver then asked him to pass the phone to Gutierrez who was then informed.

I think Pardew showed he is a pretty good manager now, both there and at Crystal Palace.

I suspect Ashley knows what he is doing from a financial perspective at least. You would imagine there would be a lot of clauses in such a document.

Newcastle are poised to complete the £8.5million signing of Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba – but doubts remain about the player's age.
The Magpies will sign the Congolese international on the understanding he is 20 years old.
However, it has long since been reported that Mbemba has four birthdays – ranging from 1988 to 1995.

Mbemba once stated in an interview that he believed his birthday was around 1990, which would make him 25.
The centre back began his career in his homeland, where his date of birth was registered as August 8, 1988.

By the time he came to sign for Anderlecht in 2012, his new birthday was stated as August 8, 1995.

However, during qualifying for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, Congo registered him as a November 30, 1991 birth.

                        Clearly he don't Mbemba anything
