Like Chelsea & City, They can buy till they get it right.

I quite like that Isak, But if he doesn't start banging them in, Well no probs lets just brring another in.

      This.

They will replace Howe in the summer, spend north of £200mill & improve; i hope they do not get top 4, but Liverpool are certainley helping get there unforunatley.

Howe's tactics are so 1-dimensional that teams have sussed them already, i think its going to be a long 15 games to the end of the season now (bit like ours hahaha)

Main difference is that what would be a great season for them, getting 4th, would be a sub par one for us.

Funny how they are getting so much praise this morning for losing a final when last year we were getting criticism for "only winning the league cup and FA cup as being runners up in the league and CL was a sign of us failing.

Same idiots on Sky that were hinting we bottled in a season where we won the league cup are lauding Newcastle for failing to win that cup and saying just reaching a final is a sign of big things to come.

        Villa
        Spurs
        Southampton
        Sunderland
        Swansea
        Bradford
        Cardiff

Just some of the names that made the LC final in the past decdae that kicked on. Newcastle's name fits in much better with those names than with the names of actual winner (Yes I know Swansea won that cup in the past decade )

Screw you Newcastle. Having an "Amazing" and "Brave" season and you will get no silverware and may well yet find a way to finish outside the CL spots.

They are around since the same year as us, yet this "big club" is heading for a hundred years without a top flight title and heading for 70 years without a major cup.

They flash their knickers at a blood regimne though and suddenly the plaudits are flying about them being back where they belong as "a big club winning silverware"

All they are is the footy equivalent of some chav that won the euro millions.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Also, it really annoys me the pundits are just totally ignoring where their wealth is coming from. It should matter more.

Do you think they have spent at that level? Because to me it seems like Ashely could have funded this? It seems more that the structural changes at the club have had the biggest impact.

I think they were the highest spenders in the whole of 2022? With 211 million, 10 million ahead of Chelsea.

Gordon was signed in January 2023.

According to Transfermarkt, Newcastle have spent a total of £276m since January 2022. With only £2m recouped in sales.

The owners took over in October 2021. Structural changes don't allow you to jump to that kind of spending overnight.

I think they were the biggest spenders in world football, or close to it, during the year 2022.

If that was the case (as if), why didn't he just auction it off again for more money for charity?

They spent £120m in all of last season and £150m this.

Ok that is a lot. But £270m in 2 seasons when you put it in context of the Prem.

I know its easy to say that they are hooving up players. But no different to any other top 10 Prem side at current rate of spending.

Chelsea, Man Utd, West Ham and Arsenal all spent more this season and last season Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal all spent more again.

Now I accept that they didnt have the sales that those clubs had to bring the net down. But nowadays do people look at net spend as a metric? Its too simplistic isnt it?

None of this is to say that their owners are good people. I think they are clearly spending more than they can normally at the moment, so thats part of it. But they havnt done what City, Chelsea etc did after a takeover and buy anyone with football boots.

It’s a necessity for most clubs it they’re to spend huge amounts within their real means and FFP.

Well City spent £50m on Haaland apparently. Which was about £15m less than Newcastle spent on Isak. So I dont know how relevant these numbers are, because like **** Haaland cost City £50m
