He said Dowie is a good coach, something about being good managing down but not so good managing up whatever the hell that means.

What this means is he is good with the players not with the people who run the club. I just heard the interview and that is what I took out of it.

I'm ambivalent to Dowies sacking, what happens at clubs of no consequence is of no concern to me. I am however grateful to the Charlton board for sanctioning the multi million pount purchace of Djimi Traore before giving Dowie the boot.

He took Palace up, almost miraculously, after they were about 18th when he took over. Great feat.
