With the 20 and 21's.. i think we are seeing just how poor the standard of talent coming it is in England. Way behind

England haven't won a match in this tournament since 1997.
          Are we winning?

Many nations did this, and it was Stuart Pearces big argument.

Basically after the international games they sent the best U21 players from their squads to the U21 tournament. In the case of some nations, they didn't call up their youngsters for the meaningless friendlies.

Fact is this: If England sent their best U21 players to the U21 squad, that team would have had a better chance in the U21 tournament.

Do that, and it means the players that drop out of that squad due to being replaced by better players, are likely able to drop down to the U20 squad, improving that teams chances.

No doubt coaching needs to be better etc, but the teams we put out was not a correct representation of the quality of the English players.

Here's another fact. If both teams do better and progress, it gives them valuable tournament experience.

English attitude is what can likes of AOC learn from lesser tournaments after he's played for the senior team and scored v Brazil?

Well what about Juan Mata? He went through the age groups, played in U21 tournament and won it, then next year won a competition with the seniors.

                It is the correct way.
                Forwards.......

It is. Any senior team that is dependant on an under 20 year old, or even under 21 year old, in order to challenge has no hope of winning anything anyway.

What the FA must do is to allow the clubs to play B and C teams in the lower divisions and get in much better coaches at youth level.

If they do that more young talents will get a much better football education and play tougher competitive games.

So many young excellent English talents get very average football education because the coaches isn't good enough.

The FA should sign up someone like Van Gaal and allow him to build up the English football youth system from top to bottom.

FFS Arn, are you Van Gaal's agent?
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                          Your new fascination!

We actually need to start from the beginning and look at what the coaches are being taught and that is what needs to be changed initially.

FWIW whilst I rate Van Gaal as a good coach I am not sure he has the right temperament or the ability to manage such a large project, essentially he's incredibly volatile and a bit bat **** mental.

That is the type of mentality the one that would take care of the project must have or else the FA would make their own decisions and the leader of the project would accept it.

He must be very tough so his decisions will happen.

Rafa would be another excellent choice.
