I dont think I mentioned it since I dont post too often but I was also very happy that we grabbed Sturridge back in January.
Nah, I understood you, I just don't agree with you; Jones has *NEVER* been more steady than Reina. Ever.

Judging by our join dates I'e been here a bit longer than you too. Lets say he does turn out to be not good enough and is gone in 2-3 seasons, all this abuse will still be somehow justified because I didnt give him half a decade to prove himself. Some players you can look and see their movement and either be sure or unsure. For me I'm more sure hes not the player to help us challenge for titles. I have no problem if others think he is. I'm not one to jump in every thread or start threads to try and prove I'm right. Thats just my feeling on that player.

And I'm sorry that the rest of you decide to call me out when I've said nothing about your own opinions. Makes you wonder what a forum is even supposed to be about if one view point is only acknowledged. Real classy. 100% positive, 0% negative. Is this the rule?
I thought there were positives to take from Alberto's performance against Notts County; some of the intricate passes he played were delightful and his vision was impressive. Granted, some of the game passed him by, but it was his first start for Liverpool in a game when the older heads took their foot off the pedal and he was left isolated.

Making such a bold statement as 'he will be loaned, then sold' off the back of this one performance without actually stating why he didn't tickle your fancy and convince you that he has a future at Liverpool, is why you got the backlash.

So you're basically saying 90% of the posters on here are stupid and deserve eternal ridicule for thinking Coutinho wasnt good enough BEFORE we'd signed him.

Well no see, last season he was steady. He had some very good games that we probably wouldnt of expected. Previous seasons yes, he was a little dodgy. But thats why he was always 3rd-4th choice. I do believe he upped his game some in the past season.

I didnt think I'd need to give a list of reasons for a simple offhanded thought. I wasnt expecting it to be taken this seriously when none of us know how he'll turn out. So saying he'll be excellent at this time is no different to me than saying he wont be. Its early, so far he doesnt look magical to me. I'm not saying theres zero chance for him to become better. He looked fairly ordinary to me. No different to dozens of others we've had who didnt look that impressive in their first few games to lower level opposition. So from first appearances and how others turned out, I just see him in that category.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Eternal, no, but they were quite clearly wrong.

Most people don't express themselves by saying extreme things like you did. So the Coutinho commentators might have relied on the fact - fact, note - that he wasn't getting picked for Inter so made the understandable, albeit wrong, inference that he wasn't that good.

I suspect many didn't see enough of him before making a judgment and clearly overvalued the little evidence they did have. It's really easy to do that: use whatever evidence there is to hand and ignore all the evidence we haven't got. And that's exactly what applies to your opinion of Alberto.

And were you even at the game or did you just watch it on television?

To be honest though I have no idea why you're carrying on digging.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Yes I see, negative opinion of me over a view on a player, hence the word digging. My only problem was how I worded my thoughts. I wont bother responding to your other points then.

                You're keeping it alive.

Ignore the other points if you like. I think there's an interesting point there about the nature of hypotheses and prediction and the heuristics and fallacies that create bias, but then that's my sort of thing anyway.

So it was just 71 minutes on tele. One small step up from a Youtube compilation.

I'm actually wondering if anyone thinks this might be a fun idea, where we have one thread thats updated each transfer period with the new players we got, and having a list of people who decided whether said player would be good enough to stay or not, sort of like wagering for fun without money, and just seeing what sort of fun can be had. Say after 3 games, a poll for the player. All the names of votes can then be transferred into the other thread under each players name in a spoiler tag just to keep the thread clean and not super long.

Kind of like the game prediction threads but instead its players that we can look back on after a while.

Or we can simply keep watching games and offer opinion based on trends.

Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp were pretty **** when they started too.

                            Didn't score today. Sell.

                            Rodgers out too.

Was tidy today. Nicely composed on the ball when it would've been easy not to be.

Glad he got on albeit briefly. Hopefully might add to his confidence.
